My deepest sympathy to all the Saidléar family on the passing of Séamus. I had the pleasure of working with Seamus not long before he retired from ESB. A true gentleman who displayed kindness and respect to everyone. May Seamus rest in peace.

Seamus (Jim) Saidléar (1931-2025) was a good and loving husband, father and grandfather. For us he was, respectively, a beloved brother and an admired and much-respected brother-in-law. He spent his working life with the ESB (Electricity Supply Board) and will be known to many from that time. He was a patriotic Irishman who loved his country and looked all his life for the establishment of a united and genuinely independent Irish Republic. He and his wife Helmi brought up an Irish-speaking family, continuing thereby the Irish-language tradition of his father, the writer Annraoi Saidléar, and his wife’s adoptive father, Ailbhe Ó Muimhneacháin, both War of Independence veterans. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam uasal.
