My deepest sympathy to James, Patrick, Margaret, Rosemary, Anne and Catriona Dennigan and also to Tomás, Aidan, Enda, Niall and Deirdre McCormack as well as to the extended Dennigan and McCormack families on the very sad passing of Seamus who will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by the very many who had the privilege of knowing him.
I have fond memories of knowing Seamus through my involvement with the Fine Gael party as a young fella back in the late 1980s and early 90s when Seamus was a sitting Member of Longford County Council.
Seamus was one of the old breed of Fine Gael Conservatives that's now sadly extinct in that party along with his deceased colleague on Longford County Council, Philo Kelly RIP and he was always available for friendly and wise advice.
Seamus represented his local community with distinction and diligence and was a first class public representative.
Seamus was also a farmer and had a passionate love of the land and cattle.
He was involved also with and a member of the ICSA (Irish Cattle and Sheep farmers Association) and I have fond memories of Seamus taking an active part in the blockade of the then Goodman owned ABP meat plant in Longford in January 2000 when I was Longford IFA County Chairman.
May his good soul Rest in Perpetual Peace and be assured that the happy repose of Seamus's good soul and God's comforting of you his grieving family is foremost in my thoughts and prayers at this very difficult time.
