It was with great sadness that I learned the news about the loss of my dear Uncle Seamus. One of the most beautiful things about my childhood was my mother's wish that her two children experience life where she grew up. Every summer we stayed with my Uncle Seamus and my grandparents in Aughnacliffe, and it was there that some of the most delightful memories to ever occupy my mind were created. I will always remember being at my uncle's side as he milked cows, how he took me alongside when he drove his tractor to the fields, when he drove us all to Lough Gowna, walking with him to the dolmen, sitting near him by the fireplace, and so many other positive moments. I had not seen my uncle for some time when I came back to visit Aughnacliffe in 2004, but it was a warm homecoming of sorts, full of fun and hospitality with Seamus and my dear Aunt Rena. I am a fortunate man to have had the experiences that I have had and am always grateful to my uncle for having facilitated so many of them. May you rest eternally in peace, Seamus. You were loved by so many. To my beloved Aunt Rena, I offer you my deepest condolences and extend my sincerest sympathy to all who were fortunate to know Seamus and whose lives were positively touched by his presence.

Sending you love and condolences Rena. Some of my fondest memories from childhood include summers in Aughnacliffe with my uncle Seamus. It was from him that I learned how to milk cows, drive a tractor, and build a haystack (all these things were quite exotic to this Brooklyn girl). I'm so glad our daughter Ava had the chance to meet her granduncle (though she did not milk a cow she still thought he was pretty cool). He will be missed by us all. May he rest in heavenly peace.
