I sincerely sympathise with the O'Grady Family on the death of Seamus which I read today in the Sunday Independent. Seamus was a good friend, who I met often on my trips to UCG as a supporter and participant in many of his educational endeavors. It is with great shock and sadness that I offer my sympathies.
Sincerest sympathy to you Bernadette, Niall and Aoife on Séamus' death.
I am saddened to have read this in the Sunday Independent obituary, and from 'rip.ie' that he had been ill.
We overlapped during our student days in UCG, and we shared a great love and interest in Sligo and the West of Ireland.
I was delighted to have guest lectured for him in the Centre for Irish Studies many years ago.
Unfortunately, we didn't meet often over the years and not for some considerable time.
I retain a great fondness for him and an appreciation of his invaluable contribution to Adult and Community Education.
May he rest in peace.

So sad to hear this news. Seamus was a valued colleague and friend with whom it was always a pleasure to work and travel. May he rest in peace - his legacy is a very significant one. Deepest condolences to his family.
Last week we marked the passing of Seamus but despite the sadness, the funeral gathering was full of great memoirs by family, colleagues and friends who recounted the fountain of Seamus's goodness and kind spirit which connected us all to him. I was fortunate to have met Seamus in my student days and he always offered great guidance. He was a beacon of community action and development within and external to the university. It was an honour to work with and for Seamus for 20 years.
Rest in peace now Seamus, your earthly work is done. Wishing you Bernadette, Niall, Aoife and extended family my deepest sympathy on your massive loss.

It was so sad to hear of the passing of Seamus. Many decades ago, we cooperated on delivery of courses through the Adult Education programme that Seamus ran so well. He was always a quietly spoken, professional gentleman to deal with. I hadn't seen him for many years until we met about 2 years ago at a retired staff event. He told me about his illness and I was so impressed with how he was dealing with it - with an acceptance and a wry sense of humour. My deepest condolences to his family.

I am very sorry to hear of the sad passing of Séamus. I had the pleasure of working with him for about 10 years from 2003. He was such a gentleman, generous with his time and experience. A pioneer in community and adult education, he made higher education accessible for many who otherwise wouldn't have had the opportunity to participate. May he rest in peace.

Dear Bernadette and family,
Sincere condolences on the death of Séamus.
I first met him on joining Cantairí Coláiste na hOllscoile early in 1970 where he was a senior member and on the committee. His post- grad status and worldly wisdom stood out to me a lowly 'gib'. He was a leader even then.
In later years he gave me a gift of the beautiful John McGahern book (produced by college)which I treasure still.
You, Bernadette, and Seamus extended your hospitality to me in Cruachán Park on my visits back to Galway from the distant Déise when I called to your neighbour, the late Mary Finnegan.
May Séamus rest in peace. Fear uasal.
