How very sad to writing this about a very dear colleague. My condolences to Mary, Mary Kate, Michael and Peter and all his family, I worked with Shay, we were promoted the same day, both delighted for each other. He was meticulous in his work, nothing was too much trouble for him. I had the pleasure of working with him in ITOPS and he was such a lovely person to work with. His family was always the most important thing to him and I think he thought himself to be incredibly lucky to have them. He had a great sense of humour and loved a laugh. His illness was cruel and robbed everyone of his company. My thoughts are with you Mary and your children of which he was so proud. RIP Shay

I am saddened to learn of Shay's untimely death - and I am so sorry for your loss.

He was a great pal of mine back in the day.
Having moved Country/County, we had lost touch; as people often do when they settle down.

I am sure that becoming a Dad was the highlight of his life.
I can picture a doting father, although I'd say he could never really say no to the children!

He was the kindest, most sincere, warm and funny friend - and an absolute gentleman.
His gentle manner and way of understanding people in a non judgemental manner
were rare gifts.

Shay, thank you for all the lovely memories and the fun we had, I will never forget.
May you rest in peace. X

I was very sad to hear of Shay's passing. I worked with Shay for many years in Met Éireann, he was a very good manager with a creative engineering mind and a very kind person. He has contributed immensely to Met Éireann’s current infrastructure and software suites which we see every day. We had many an interesting chat over the Economist Magazine latest articles and It was always interesting to get into a deep conversation with Shay on these topics.
