So sorry to hear of Shay’s passing. He was a pleasure to work with many years ago and it was great to meet up again in Stagg’s in Lucan. My condolences to the family.

I had the pleasure of getting to know Shay when I joined LCRC and he was always available with guidance and advise whenever we went for training spins together -I loved our spins together and the crack and banter out on the road - he will be truly missed by all at the club .A very special person and one of a kind !! RIP

I met Shay when I first joined Orwell and remember him fondly for his warmth, kindness and sense of humour. An absolute gentleman who made every race gathering welcoming. I was so sorry to hear this news and express my heartfelt condolences to his family and many, many friends at Lucan CRC. You will be missed. RIP.

Really saddened to hear about Shays passing this week. A genuine nice guy who always had time to chat - huge contributor to Leinster Cycling and Lucan CC. Fondly recall the World Champs in Varese in 2008-great crew and craic led out by Shay....Condolences to Stephanie, Chelsea and Graham. RIP Shay.

Shay was like a free guide to cycling; he helped keep so many young riders in the pipeline until they could flourish. Before and after races the back of the car was a hive; he created this environment, not just for club riders but for all riders. All this was authentic to him, and we'll miss him very much.

We are so sorry to hear Shaser has passed. Condolences to you Stephanie, Chelsea and Graham.
As you know he was one hell of a man, a tough man but also a gent and so selfless with his time to anyone who showed interest in the bike. Glad to have had him as a pal. He gave the ilness some battle, many would have given in long ago. No doubt he will be looking after ye from afar.

You were such an influential part of my life and always had me and other young guys at the clubs interest at heart. You were a great man and an inspiration to me. RIP

I have years of great memories of Shay but what’s come back to me with the news of his passing is how attentive he was of newcomers to the club. He’d quietly take you under his wing and make sure you learned and progressed.
There was never a time you’d not be glad of meeting him. He was a pure gentleman.
I’m sure he’s passed on all his good qualities to his family.

DS Murphy what a man.He looked after me from day 1 when I started in the club and right up to a few yrs ago when I was his final ever wheel change in this world. He will always be our DS and our racing crew have lost our big boss.Tailwind Shay until we meet again thanks for everything.

I was so lucky to work shay in staggs and even luckier to still have his old Thompson a bike that I’ll have forver. He’d always push you to a limit you didn’t know and have training and racing,and a jam tart and coke waiting for you at the end of every race even in work😂 even fond of mams biscuit cake. Always fond of a chat and sharing his knowledge and storys. No better man to learn off.
