On behalf of the Board of Directors of Educate Together we extend our deepest sympathy to the family, friends and school community surrounding Sean. Sean will be remembered as being a huge Educate Together supporter, who was passionate and extremely knowledgeable. May he Rest in Peace.

I first met Sean at the very first public meeting for the school in Mullingar in 2003 and last spoke to him outside the new Educate Together school in Redfield, Bristol in late 2017. He was a wonderful man.
He was a very strong and friendly supporter of Educate Together in Mullingar and served as a board of management member for many years. In fact, he was the chairperson of board for most of the school’s existence. He also served as a member of Educate Together’s national Board of Directors from 2007 to 2010 and was three times elected Educate Together’s Vice-Chairperson.
He spoke regularly at Educate Together General Meetings and Board discussions. He consistently supported Educate Together’s fundamental principles of equality of access and respect for children of all backgrounds.
The Mullingar Educate Together school’s success, commitment to children with additional needs, quality of teaching and learning and the morale of its teaching team are a tribute to his board leadership. He was a strong and able supporter of Róisín Nic Tighearnáin, its current and founding principal.
It is a great pity that he has passed away so early and I hope that all will remember him for all the good that he achieved in a life cut short too soon.
