Sincere though belated condolences to all the late Sean's family and many friends on his passing .To share in the many tributes to Sean and to recall the pleasure in the many friendly encounters with Sean in UCD Engineering (as a class colleague )in the 70's , later in his Engineering work with Dublin City Council and as an enlightened political analyst and commentator . May Sean now rest in peace RIP
My sincere condolences to Sean's family. In my role as City Engineer for Dublin I worked with Sean and it was a pleasure to have him as a work colleague. He liked to oversee water contracts and he had a particular talent for large pipelines. One very difficult project he oversaw was the reconstruction of the overflow spillway on the dams on the River Dodder which had been destroyed by Hurricane Charlie. His experience and diplomacy with contractors and local communities was something special to behold and his sense of humour, particularly,in tense situations was appreciated by all . He will be sadly missed by us all . May he rest in peace.
Frances, Marie and Leo,
So sorry to hear of Sean's death. He was an entertaining character and a true Letterkenny man.
Whenever I heard his voice on radio or tv it brought me right back to Cathedral Place.
May he rest in peace.

Sincere sympathy to the Donnelly Family on the sad passing of Sean. An outstanding psephologist and fine company.
I witnessed at first hand his expert analysis and insightful contributions when I was chair of the Joint Oireachtas Committee on the Environment and we conducted public hearings and issued a report recommending the establishment of the Electoral Commission.
May rest in gentle peace.

Sean had 3 great qualities in the media world, he had a great ability to communicate with the audience, he could easily explain a changing political landscape and most importantly he did it as a Letterkenny man who held on to his good home accent. He will be sorely missed by many.

I was saddened to hear of Sean's passing. Although I had not been in contact with him for many years due to my absence from Ireland, I was a friend of his during our time in St. Eunan's and since have owed both him and the Donnelly family a debt of gratitude for the kindness and support they provided at the end of that time. My sincerest sympathy to the Donnelly family.
We're very sorry to hear of Seán's death and offer our condolences to his family. Seán embraced life with commitment, humour and a unique talent. His knowledge was far-reaching but he excelled in his incisive analysis of political trends and results. His election forecasts both at national and local levels were valued by all parties. He was great company and, along with his late wife Eilish, was a frequent and generous host. The illness and death of his partner Maureen had a profound impact on Seán.
May he rest in peace

Deepest sympathies to the Donnelly family on the passing of your beloved Sean. Fond memories of him from my political days. May his gentle soul rest in eternal peace.
Sincere condolences to Seán’s family. It would be wrong say he was one in a million, as that would suggest there were four more like him in the country. He was a once off. A brilliant story teller with a great turn of phrase. His passion for politics and elections was infectious. Seán’s election analysis will be missed by anyone with an interest in Irish politics. He gave us the famous ‘Donnelly Rules’ and everything else from ‘seat bonus’ formulas to quirky facts about elections past. He lived in Dublin for much of his life but never forgot his Donegal roots. May Seán rest in peace.
Sincere condolences and sympathy to the Donnelly family on the passing of Sean to his sisters and brother, his nieces and nephews and extended family. Himself and Jim were good friends. May Sean now rest in peace in eternal life in heaven...
I wish to express my deepest, most sincere condolences to Seán's family, relatives, former colleagues, neighbours and many friends on their sad bereavement at this time.
Seán was one of Ireland's best known psephologists. People, political pundits and politicians enjoyed his deep, incisive analysis of election results & their meaning. He published some of the finest and most comprehensive reference books on Irish elections in years gone by.
May his soul now rest gently in peace.

My condolences on the loss of Sean. He was my classmate in St. Eunan’s College, where his natural leadership and strong interest in sport were already evident. A gifted communicator, he played a central role in organising our class reunions and keeping us all connected through the years. His national reputation as an expert on local elections was clear to all of us, and we watched him on RTÉ with pride as he shared his deep knowledge of the subject. He was always a devoted Letterkenny man. He will be greatly missed. May he rest in peace.
Fond memories of Sean in his very. welcoming home with Eilish fun times, sending sincere sympathy to all the families RIP Sean 🙏

Condolences to the Donnelly family on Sean’s passing. A lovely guy, always a bit of craic when we met. We met Sean first when we all worked at JV Duffy in Shankill, Co Dublin. In the middle of a working day Sean might decide he needed potatoes. He would often throw me his car keys and say go up to your dad in the field and get me a bag or maybe 2 of spuds. Afterwards would meet him in Sandyford when he was with Dublin Co Co waterworks (semi retired in his own words). Always a bit of devilment and a laugh. RIP Sean.
We are so sad to hear about Sean's passing and send condolences to all his family and friends.
Sean was the most wonderful neighbour in Milltown for over 20 years. He looked out for and had time for everyone and never lost that twinkle in his eye - especially when talking about sport generally and rugby in particular. He will be sadly missed.

Sincere condolences on Sean’s passing . Great friend of my old buddy Derek Mc Veigh RIP . One of the best political pundits and the one person you would want to be with on any social occasion . Might have lived in Dublin but was forever Donegal . Whenever his name came up on my phone it was either a general election or Donegal were in an All Ireland final . Will miss his wit and devilment .
