Among his many contributions to Northern Ireland, and the island as a whole, was his major role in the development of higher education and research as Pro-chancellor and Chair of the Council of the University of Ulster. Sean had a wonderful and generous life, and he did tremendous good for Derry, Omagh and beyond. His legacy is in the many families he supported, the communities he improved and the employment he created. A fine gentleman, he will be sadly missed.
