At work he was exceptionally knowledgeable, innovative and generous in sharing his advice, expertise and kindness. He understood to a tee how to work hard and to motivate his colleagues and students to be good knowledgable workers in a collaborative team environment. My condolences to you and your family on Sean’s passing. He was very good to me at the start of my tax career. In particular I have always owed him a debt of gratitude for sharing his insights into tax law and practice with me during our time together in the Training School. I also have happy memories of nights out in The Goalpost! The photograph captures so well the Sean I remember.

My deepest condolences to all the Kearns family on Sean's passing. As I reflect on what Sean has meant to me, I am reminded of Sir Isaac Newton's quote 'if I have seen further, it is by standing on the shoulders of giants'. In the field of taxation, Sean was a giant and through his tax training at Craig Gardner, he moulded and mentored many of us and provided a solid foundation on which we could go on to build our own careers. Many years later as I train and mentor my own team today at PwC here in Jamaica, they have all indirectly benefited from Sean's teaching, stories and limericks (which were all part of his teaching tools) and can even recite Sean's favourite limerick about "de minimis non curat lex"... lol. As we say in Jamaica, you have run your race well Sean, now is your time to rest. May your soul Rest in Peace and may perpetual light shine upon you.

Sincere sympathy to Brid and all the family on the sad death of Sean. His passing brings back memories of great days and nights during our taxes training school days in the mid 70s. On many a Friday night after extensive refreshment and debate in Madigans Goalpost near Dublin General we would all travel to no 86 where many a song was sung and where Brid was always ready to serve beautiful sobering soup and rolls. We met up with Sean and Brid several times in later years. Sean was an expert teacher of tax knowledge and know how and some of his tips and advices are still relevant today, notwithstanding the huge changes brought about by technology.
