Paul, Rosemary and Rory - my condolences to you and your families. I have wonderful memories of Auntie Molly and Uncle Sean. I recall a mad water fight there and they were cool as cucumbers. Auntie Molly was a real matriarch and Uncle Sean was the quiet man with a lovely twinkle in his eye. Whenever I think of them I smile. We could all wish for that legacy. Love from Mike and mine. X

Uncle Sean as he was to me, is the last of that wonderful generation who reared our extended families. Sean, together with his late wife, were a wonderful couple who provided an open and welcoming house on Errigal Road in Dublin.

For me, in particular, the 10 minute walk from where I lived as a child, was, at least, a weekly occurrence. Indeed, I can also immediately recall that there were many, many occasions where I was brought out by them and my cousins, with Bray and the surrounding areas a particular favourite.

Sean was a keen golfer and a much respected, indeed loved, presence in the Shelbourne Hotel, where he spent most of his working life. He was, as other writer’s have already said, an absolute gentleman.

Paul, Rosemary and Rory, you know better than most, that your Mum and Dad loomed large in my childhood and are sadly missed. The memories of them will stay with me forever.
