Dietrich Bonhoeffer

Die Erinnerung als Geschenk wahren, das möge Euch gelingen!
Wir umarmen euch

I was truly saddened to hear of the passing of Sean Leahy today. Along with the late Barry O’Kelly, both were great personalities, entertainers and nurtured a passion for drama. Their collective energy in those Gormanston days back in the 1980’s/90,s new no bounds. My sincere condolences to Sean’s family at this time. Rest in Peace Sean.

I worked with him in the Dept of Posts and Telegraphs (Telex Section) in Marlboro Street, Dublin back in the seventies. That's where he met Ellen, who had come to work in the section.

And he was a super guy to work with. A great story teller and a great listener. Sincere condolences to Ellen and to Sean's family. Thoughts and prayers...Daniel J. and Jane.

We offer our deepest condolences to Ellen and family. Seán worked with the students in Sion Hill for many years through our school musical productions, dramas and TY workshops. He created memories for all students which they will cherish for years to come. He generously shared his talents with all and will be remembered for his kindness, dedication and passion for the arts.

Ar Dheis Dé go raibh a Anam Dílis
Seán directed me twice in my amateur acting days. Once with Yew Troupe in Terenure back in the late ‘80’s or early ‘90’s in the great Mike Leigh play “Abigail’s Party” and again, many years later with Bord Gáis Players in Liberty Hall in “My Wife’s Family” - Seán had a knack of getting the best out of the amateur groups he worked with, with just the right amount of “direction” - a great directing talent ! Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anim.
Deepest condolences to the Leahy family on Seán's passing. I knew him from a few Square One productions and the Gormanston Summer School. A clear love of amateur drama and the arts was there to see.
Sincere sympathy to Eimear & family on the passing of your Dad. Thinking of you at this difficult time.
Seán will know of me as DBH! I only just heard today of his passing away. This has made me so sad here over in Glasgow, where I’ve been since 1994! Seán had the most distinctive voice which was often to be heard booming at me “where were you in 1916?” “You’ll be late for your own funeral!” As I arrived huffing and puffing up the stairs to the very top of Ormond st Bank of Ireland Branch in the early 90’s.
A twinkle in his eye him and the wonderful Barry O’Kelly always in cahoots! A great talent and like Dave Greene I am imagining him reunited with Barry making all sorts of mischief, turning heaven into a laughing theatrical magic kind of place that I hope to arrive late to at some point in the future!
Sincere condolences to Seán’s family and loved ones. I will remember him very fondly.
Deirdre (B) Hannon
So sorry to hear of Sean’s passing. I have many wonderful memories of him in Gormanston, all involving lots of laughter. Deepest sympathies to all his family. May he rest in peace.
I'm truly shocked to hear of Sean's passing. I heard too late to extend my sympathies today to his family. Many fond and treasured memories of Sean touring with La Touche and the annual Gormo outings. Sean was a true theatre practioner and always great company. I regret we never got to meet up again for those post Covid pints. Hopefully Sean and his longtime collaborator, the late Barry O'Kelly, are already planning another 'heavenly' production!
Sincere sympathy to the Leahy family on Séan's passing. A bright light has gone out! I am sorry for your loss.

Sincere sympathy to Sean’s wife & Family & all his siblings. He was quite a character. As a “culchie” colleague grudgingly conceded of his arty style “ he has great taste”. I doubt he will rest in his Heavenly home.
Sincere condolences to Ellen, Daire, Eimear, Maeve and extended family and friends at this sad time. I have fond memories of working with Sean during my school musical and it was lovely to have him as a neighbour to stay in touch with over the years. Lots of love, Richard, Cliodhna and Clodagh x

I'm so sad to hear of Sean's untimely passing. He was a huge supporter of Mermaid. I so enjoyed our Monday night bants about the movie. Him and his tipple of red wine. He could cut you dead with his intellectual sarcasm and lift you up with a word of praise in the same sentence. He was just a gem of a man. My love goes out to Ellen and the family. Rest in peace Sean
Our deepest sympathies to Ellen, Dáire, Eimear and Maeve at this difficult time..

Throughout our treasured time with the Loreto Drama Club and Sheevawn Musical Youth Theatre Group, his sharp wit and chats could always manage to lift up even the most stressful tech run.

His presence and expertise will surely be missed in the theatre community of Bray and beyond, though he leaves behind a wonderful legacy.

Thanks for everything, Sean, you will be fondly remembered. May you rest in peace.

Sending all of our love and support to you all.
