Séan was the first of Teresa's descendants to join her in eternity.
I had a vegetarian meal that day in his honour, I didn't know what else to do so like granny taught us I turned to food. The fact that Séan was a vegetarian should come as no surprise he was a free spirit and a truly kind soul. Always with a bounce and a smile; he was just a good, kind, man and the world could do with more of him.
I was reminded recently of the day of our grandmother’s funeral, we were all sad and U2's a Beautiful Day came on the radio. Séan reminded us that it was indeed a beautiful day after a freezing wet few days and that we were celebrating her long and wonder-filled life with all us cousins together.
Unfortunately, he was taken from us, long before his time, but he himself led a beautiful wonder-filled life and as he all too briefly raced through this earth he literally touched and left behind a void to all of us fortunate enough to have known him however briefly across the planet; from Ireland to Australia across Asia to Africa and the Americas he left this planet all the better for his having been here.
I hadn't seen him for a few years just because life put me in North America and he in Ireland but Séan was always there with a smile and a nod. We lost another one of the great guys when he passed.
I can only imagine the grief my aunt Marie, his father, and my dear uncle, Johnny and all his siblings, friends and our other relatives are going through.

I will always be very grateful for having met Sean. I still remember as if it was yesterday when he gave a call at around 8 pm asking me to go to an interview at the Washers Laundry, in which, to my surprise, it was already my training day. Sean was not there, but he arrived when we were closing the shop when he hired me. I could never be more thankful because despite my English being very poor and living abroad for three months only, Sean believed me and saw a potential future in my career. If it were not for him, today I would not be working in my area here in Ireland and making my dreams come true.
Sean will always be remembered for having a huge heart and his passion for helping people. May Sean rest in peace.

My sincere sympathy to all of Sean's family. We lived together for a short period but it was enough to know how big and good his heart was. He was always nice with me and I will be always grateful for so many things and for had welcome me into his house, for his friendship, for always cares, for the good conversations, for had beers together and especially for made me company in my dinner in his last night. The first time I ever saw Sean was in 1990 Termini railway station in Rome, when the whole of Ireland seemed to be in Italy for the world championships. I tried to give him a flyer for the campsite I worked for and he told me to go away, although in slightly different words. A couple of weeks after that he was tending bar at the same campsite and a couple of years later again we were both handing out flyers, at the same station, for the same campsite. And of course we had become friends by then. And every time we met after those first years in Rome, it was as if I had seen that happy, benevolent grin only yesterday. And naturally Katarina and the kids came to love Sean just as much. Our sincerest condolences to Sean's family. Rest in peace, Sean..
