Seán - always so friendly and welcoming - forever a True Gentleman with a wonderful smile radiating great goodness, kindness, a strong Faith, humour, wit, delight and sincerity. It was a real privilege being in St. Patrick's Teacher Training College in Dublin in 1968 when we witnessed Seán's superb leadership qualities, his inspiring dedication as a Teacher supreme and his great willingness to listen and support very many. Seán has truly enriched the lives of All. God rest his gentle Soul. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.

We were saddened to hear of Sean`s passing. R.I.P. He was a gentleman.

Throughout Sean’s career in Scoil Cholmcille in Donaghmede he was a kind, dedicated Teacher who supported children to experience success.
Sean was a mentor to many and in his role in management, he ensured the school developed and thrived for the benefit of all pupils.
Following his retirement, Sean continued to support the school and to celebrate Pupil achievements. His visits to the School will be greatly missed.

Sean, late at night here as I'm jolted reading that you've gone. A person I liked a lot from the first time I met you in 1967, out the back of St. Pat's Teacher Training College, Drumcondra, throwing the shot. You had some prowess in that event. Along with some other lads from Donegal and elsewhere around Ireland, we enjoyed your droll sense of humour, your obvious intelligence, your ease of company. Mature and sensible for your age. Many years passed and I bumped into you again in Gortahork. Like no years had passed since last we met. I left you feeling the better for having met you again. To your extended family, I say that I was enriched by having Sean pass my way for a period in my life. These are the important things in life.

Sincerest sympathy to the Mc Elwee family on Sean's passing. I was so sorry to hear of his death. I have great memories of the times and conversations Sean, Hugh Mc Gee and I shared while walking around the football field at St Enda's in Salthill all those years ago. May he rest in peace.
