Our deepest sympathies to Mrs Medlar and family.

Mr Medlar was one of those rare individuals whose influence and humanity stays with you long after the last time you've met. He was a terrific teacher and thoroughly decent gentleman who everyone respected. He made Gaeilge accessible to even the most reluctant students and his classes were never dreaded. He was also quite talented on the spoons!

A few years ago he met my parents while attending their respective medical appointments and the fact that he both recognised and had time to chat to them m so many years after my leaving Coolmine summed up the type of person that he was.

My Mum and I were very sorry to learn of his death. May he Rest in Peace.

I was so sorry to hear the sad news of Mr Medlar's passing. I didn't have the good fortune of being a student in his classroom, but had the pleasure of getting to know him through Coláiste Gaeilge Cúil Mhín, and always enjoyed bumping into him around the school and once or twice in the years since. He was a huge part of the school community and had all the qualities of a wonderful teacher. He was encouraging, caring, passionate about all the elements of Irish culture and instilling that grá in the students of Coolmine. He also had a great sense of fun and a kind, kind heart. I will always remember him fondly and I'm thinking of his family and loved ones at this difficult time. May he rest in peace.

Sending condolences and best wishes to The Medlar family. I have very fond memories of Mr Medlar in Coolmine (1980-85). He was someone we trusted and felt we could go to; a firm but fair teacher. He'll be greatly missed but he's left great memories behind for so many.

Sincere sympathy to Ann, Niamh and Aoife on the profound loss of Sean, a beloved husband and father.

Sean was a colleague of mine for many years in Coolmine Community School. He was an excellent teacher and his love of the Irish language was evident to all. It would be difficult to exaggerate the enormous contribution Sean made to the the teaching profession in general, and to Coolmine in particular. He brought with him a wealth of knowledge, experience, sensitivity, common sense and wisdom.
When I started teaching in Coolmine I was lucky that my classroom was opposite his office. Sean was always there for me for advice and indeed his mentorship assisted me greatly.Apart from all this he was a very entertaining man, and I really enjoyed meeting him on social occasions.

May Sean rest in peace.
