Sean was always such a pleasant person to meet and he made so welcome to Killorglin, during my time in both the Vocational School and the Community College. Every conversation with Sean was so interesting - he did so much work to re establish the old walking routes, that then became "The Kerry Way". He was a great Community petson.

Seán was such a force of Nature and of all that is Kerry that it is difficult to think of him as having passed to the happy rambling lands in the higher Kingdom. There is no doubt in my mind of anyone more deserving to be on a right hand seat than Seán. When I arrived in the Kingdom in the 70’s, I met Seán at a Mountain Rescue search in the Gap and he invited me to join the team and this led to many happy years and wonderful friendships. I owe you Seán for the fondest of memories and I can’t think of you without a cheerful happy Ha, ha, ha during team exercises, wonderful team sing songs with Marguerite, Gearóid, Mary and all the team at Cappanalea. Seán was such a cheerful, happy through and true Kerryman and such a kind, giving inspirational human being. You will always be Seán Óg to me.

When a new annual event was penciled in to our yearly plan i.e. a mandatory mountain climb of Carrantouhill for our large cohort of 4th Year pupils, Sean generously made himself available to lead the group.. He insisted on all being properly "clad and shod" for the dangerous terrain as safety was paramount to him' He held these pupils enthralled and encapsulated by his precise, accurate geographical & historical information, his patience and gentle delivery and engendered in many a life long love of mountain pursuits. I met Sean on a few occasions in the mountains of Kerry...a well respected mountaineer who will be sadly missed by his mountaineering colleagues.
