Sean was the most wonderful, unique gentleman anyone could meet. He had a way with people that was just so honest, sincere and caring.
All the households of Kilkee East and its environs, whenever they reached out to Sean for help, all received the same answer. “No problem, see you in a while”.
Out on the farm, Sean really stood out. His unlimited knowledge and ability at looking after animals was second to none. His ability at planning farming jobs was on a different level. He always had a simpler, less expensive way of completing a task.
One of Sean’s greatest talents was his ability to get the “army” on board. This was most visible when it came to a field of square bales in summer. A field of bales would be cleared by family/neighbours at sheer speed and all while smiling and having no fuss.
Sean had this roguish smile when having the crack it was infectious. That smile would appear always if he was asked the question “well what to you think of that, John Francis”, which was his official name.
One statement I can make for certain around our corner of Ruan, Sean”John Francis” O’Brien will be forever remembered as the genuine gentleman he was, so full of good nature, so loveable, so courteous and noble.
