Mr O’Dwyer came into my life as a excellent math teacher and athletics coach in the early years of St. Molaises college in the late fifties. He always had time for visit years later , the last one ended up at the Woodford Iron festival before Covid . His enquiring mind had many questions on the making of iron .

On May 22nd 2023, I met Sean and Lillian after an absence of 55 years! To my astonishment, both of them remembered many details about my days in St Molaises that I had long forgotten - we laughed and joked for nearly two hours, Sean was in exuberant form - a wonderful meeting! It is with great sadness indeed that I hear of his passing, Jan and I extend our sincere condolences.

It was with a lot of sadness that I learnt of Sean's passing.

He was a tremendous man, that meant so many different things to so many people. To me, he will also be the teacher that pushed me and pushed me, much to my irritation at the time, but for which I will always be grateful.

He wanted his pupils to reach their full potential and so many of his past pupils owe him so much.

To his family, I extend my very sincere sympathies, you, and the wider community of Portumna have lost a giant of influence.
