Sean was one of a kind, a genuine legend. I had the pleasure and privilege of working with him from 93 to 99 – we all learnt a lot working with him but we had great fun doing so. There are so many memories of evenings in Fallons, cross country car trips in the 'Mobile Ashtray' and late nights trying to squeeze the last bit of design from the project. And who else would include references to the Visigoths in a pitch for a project ? Most importantly, it showed that good guys could be successful, and building Murray O’Laoire Architects into such a successful international practice was testimony to not only his talent but also his personality. I had the additional pleasure of being his neighbour for 10 years and even years later when we met he was always ready for a chat and a catch up. He really was a one- off, a generous, kind, smart, intelligent, erudite and genuinely lovely man. He will be sorely missed.
One of those people that don’t cross your paths too often in life but what an impact they make when they do.
Rest easy Sean you left a legacy

My deepest sympathies to Marcus and to all Seán's family. Seán was a wonderful and generous presence in Ireland's architectural and cultural life over many decades. We all have reason to be grateful to a lovely man for his many, and diverse, creative contributions. He will be much missed.
The special bond between Marcus and Seán (the Dadlad) is evident to anyone privileged enough to either know one of them or to follow their adventures together on social media. The care between them, humour, affection and genuine regard for one another has been such a joy to witness over the years, and I'll miss looking forward to seeing them enjoy another dinner or day out in each other's company. My deepest condolences for this unfathomable loss to Marcus, Rachel and Sylvie, and all of Seán's family and friends.
