Regrettably we couldn’t attend Sean’s funeral as we were abroad. Sean was a helpful, caring cousin and always a joy to meet over the years. I enjoyed Sean's company over many rounds of golf in years past. He was the best of company and it was easy to see why he was so highly respected as a teacher. He got great satisfaction from seeing CBC hurlers participating in the Harty Cup in recent years. Sean was proud to have been instrumental in having the Liam McCarthy Cup brought to the school, many years ago, and helping to generate the momentum towards today's CBC hurling prominence.

Deepest sympathies to the O'Leary family. I was in CBC from 1969 to 1975 and had Sean as a teacher for many of those years. I was a hopeless student but his geography class enabled me to get enough points to get into accountancy and changed my life positively. I am still eternally grateful to him.

Sean was my Geography teacher in Christians and I then got to know him a lot better as a golfer in Cork Golf Club. He was a gent and always in good form and I always enjoyed our chats. It was lovely to see him celebrate his birthday at the club in recent months.
