Deepest sympathy on the loss of Seán to all his family.
I was so saddened to hear of his passing away.
A lovely gentleman always. His knowledge of the Red Deer population in Killarney was exceptional, his photographs outstanding and his generosity with his time and knowledge was equally outstanding. Always a pleasure to meet, it was a privilege knowing Seán and I treasure his book on the Red Deer of Killarney National Park.

Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis

Now reunited with his beloved wife Peggy and daughter Patricia.
May he rest in peace.
So sad to hear of Sean’s passing and to have missed his funeral while away on holidays. We will be forever grateful to Sean for enabling us build our house in what was then Sean’s ‘back garden’. He was probably the most honourable man we have known.
May his soul be at peace.
I extend my sincere sympathy to the Ryan family on the sad passing of Sean. May he rest in peace.
So sorry to learn about Sean's passing what a wonderful person who gave generously to all that knew him. Will be sadly missed in Killarney National Park where he spent many years in pursuit of Nature in all it's aspects especially the Native Red Deer of Kerry. An imminent Researcher, Photographer and Storyteller of note which resulted in numerous publications for all to see. May Sean Rest In Peace
Very sad to hear of Sean's passing; he was a true gentleman and an outstanding naturalist with a special interest in the Red Deer of Killarney, documented for posterity in his book 'The Wild Red Deer of Killarney' (1998). None other than the late Professor James Fairley described it as 'a major event in Irish publishing, and is in the finest traditions of wildlife writing, with appeal to interested layman and professional naturalist alike'. RIP Sean.
Deeply, deeply saddened by the loss of Seán,
May he rest in Peace.
Condolences to his family.

My condolences to Colm and all of the Ryan family. Though I'd known Colm for many years I got to know Sean during his frequent book buying visits. He was such a lovely man, quietly spoken and very knowledgeable but with a great sense of humour. He will be very much missed

Comhbhrón ó chroí le Matt, Colm agus leis an chlann go léir. Fear uasal tréitheach.
Dhein Seán obair mhór chun na Fianna Rua i gCill Áirne a chosaint.
Thuig sé an tabhacht a bhain leis an dúlra agus leis an dúchas. Labhair sé an Ghaoluinn go fonnmhar blasta.

Sincere condolences to the Ryan family on the sad loss of Sean, a lovely man. May he rest in peace.
Condolences to Matt, Collm and family on the passing of Sean. He was an absolute gentleman and a true polymath with a profound love and understanding of nature and the natural world. Sean wore his learning lightly and was always willing to help the uninitiated. I have so many fond memories of the time I spent in his company - most memorably a visit to the Isle of Skye in 2002. May Sean rest in peace.
Please accept,my deepest sympathy,to all the Ryan family & friend's,at this very difficult time.
May Sean,rest in eternal peace.

I am deeply saddened to hear of the passing of my life long friend and colleague. He had a profoundly positive impact on me in many ways. He was genuinely considerate and compassionate to everyone and everything around him. I am grateful to him for passing on his love of the outdoors and nature. Our climbing and hiking trips are wonderful highlights of our time together.
As a work colleague he as second to none. He was always exceptionally professional and precise in everything he did, as well as being completely trustworthy.
I am glad I saw Sean in recent months and had the opportunity to reminisce a little. It was a lovely experience for us both.
I will miss you my good friend,
Tom (Louis) Carey
Our sincere sympathy to the Ryan family on the sad passing of Sean. It was a pleasure to have worked with him in Sisk’s many years ago. May he rest in peace.
How lucky was I to have my first ever job with Sean in Bridge St. Straight out of school, I acted as Sean’s secretary for 12 months in 1978 and was privileged to share long, interesting and educational coffee breaks with this lovely, thoughtful man. We met many times over the years and I will always appreciate the sound advice he gave me to help me along. Rest in Peace Sean.
Comhbróin le Matt, Colm agus chlann uilig Seán ar a bhás.
Fear usal a chur suim deimhin sa dúlra.
Go dtuga Dia ar neamh suimhneas na sioraí duit go deo a Sheáin.
Our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Sean at this sad time. May his gentle soul rest in peace
Genuinely saddened to hear of Sean’s passing and so glad I got to visit him in recent weeks.
As interesting a character with a huge intellect as one could hope to meet in a lifetime.
Sincere sympathy to Matt, Colm and Family and also to his lifetime Friend, Tom Carey. May Sean rest peacefully beside his beloved Peggy and Patricia 🙏
I am saddened to hear that Sean has passed from this life. A kind gentle soul of a man who loved his family and loved life so much that when he was able he was always planning his next adventure to Killarney with his camera. Of course on his return he would tell Peggy about his adventure.
He was broken hearted when she passed for he missed her terribly.
On one of our chats he said to me because Peggy had passed that half of him was missing.
Reunited now with Peggy and Patricia may they all rest in peace.
Gone from this life they will never be forgotten.
Our deepest condolences to Matt, Colm and extended families.

Sincere sympathies to the Ryan family on Sean's passing. May he rest in peace
I am shocked to hear of Sean's passing, he was a great friend of Killarney, and he's deeply felt interest in the last native deer population will be remembered for many a day. His beautifully written book, The Wild Red Deer of Killarney, was a labour of love for Sean, and is much appreciated by all who have read it. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him in Killarney National Park, but I am sure his spirit will roam the hills of the red deer range, keeping a watchful eye on his beloved red deer. RIP Sean.
Heartfelt condolences to the Ryan family on the sad loss of Sean. May he rest peacefully reunited with Peggy and Patricia.

So sorry to hear of Sean's death. A kinder, nicer man you could not meet. I will miss our discussions on all things Nikon over multiple pots of tea in the Imperial. Sean was a rare breed, a gentleman to his fingertips. Sincere sympathies to Matt, Colm and family.
