I will never forget the ballad sessions in the Enda hotel in Dominic Street with Sean Jack Gerry and the lads . Us girls couldn’t wait to go there and hear them singing and playing. He had a gorgeous voice and he will bring such happiness with him to Heaven. The coolest guy you could meet . Deepest sympathies to all the Tyrrell family . I will remember you in my prayers. 🌹

Iwas happy to speak to him on the phone recently when he offered to come and play on the occasion of our 50th wedding anniversary.Unfortunstely it couldn't happen

I would like to join with the many people who have expressed their condolences to the Tyrrell family on the passing of Sean. I never got to meet Sean but I played his version of The Coast of Malibar on a few occasions over the years on my shows on Midwest Radio (Mayo) which are around 90% country music shows. I always respected the huge love he had for his genre of music and I had a grand and personal friendship (through our love of hurling) with his brother TJ who made his home in Mayo and whose love of hurling was such that he became chairman of the Mayo Hurling Board. TJ became so immersed in the GAA culture of Mayo that the Mayo senior hurling cup is now known as the TJ Tyrrell Cup ...and it is so lovely to see such wonderful and genuine bonds between Mayo and Galway at this level. Sean commanded huge respect on the folk scene and I extend my deepest condolences to all his family circle at this time. Rest in peace Sean ....from all who respected you and your music here in Mayo.

I met him a few times at London concerts, which were part of Brendan Mulkere's Síol Phadraig arts festivals in the late 80/early 90s.
