Sean(Kiley) Dignam

My deepest sympathies to Anne, Tara, Sheena, Niamh, Ella, Rua, and to Sean's extended family and friends. I have wonderful memories of Sean's hospitality when we Dubliners descended on Tours for Tara's 30th in late summer 2010. May he rest in peace.

It is with great sadness and shock to hear of the passing of Sean. He will be sorely missed by all of his extended family and friends here in the U.S. He will never be forgotten and will forever come up in conversations making us smile and/or ruffling our feathers. Our deepest condolences to everyone and hope we can all be together when this pandemic is finally over. The service this morning was absolutely beautiful and we were so grateful to be able to partake in it. Sending you all of our love and sympathy.

The church looked beautiful this morning, for the Mass for Sean. And it was so personal. Thank you, Ann, Tara, Sheena and Niamh for giving us the opportunity to participate from far away in New Jersey, in something so special for Sean.

Heavenly Father,

Thank you that I have the privilege of flying a helicopter. Thank you that I can take to the skies, see earth become small and fall away beneath me. O Lord, help me to fly with skill and diligence, to follow procedure and to keep those I carry safe. Alert me to difficulties and dangers, so that I have time to respond and pray.

And as I take to the skies, come lift my heart too. May I always give thanks for the goodness in my life. As the earth blurs away beneath me, come give me your heart for it. Please inspire my mind to see everything through your eyes. And may my prayers be free, dynamic and effective from this perspective! Lord, lead me closer to you each time I pilot this helicopter.

Amen.

Prayers to Anne and family. Sean was a good friend and we had such good times flying together and when we landed and we’re done for the day, we always enjoyed a good cocktail and watch the sunset. Rest In Peace my friend.

We have just watched the mass for Sean with his family and friends from around the world, still in a state of shock. He was my cousin and friend , growing up in Ashford and beyond. The memories of our escapades together are flooding back. We never lost contact even though we were at different ends of the world and he would occasionally visit us in Galway. I was his best man when he married Ann.
Sean was some character ; intelligent , witty, generous, determined, music loving, and patriotic. Unique is not too far a stretch . I will miss his flow of conspiracy theories with which he kept us supplied and to which I couldn't resist responding at times. Our on-going debates are over for the present.
I hope we can all meet in the not too distant future to remember him and celebrate his life. I'm sure he would enjoy that.

How could I ever forget being in Primary school with Sean, and his bashfullness and shyness then! Blushing so easily at almost everything, as we all did at that age.

He was a true warrior who served two tours serving in the US military for two tours when only one was required. He was a true patriot in every sense of the word for the US and Ireland .
