I only just learned of Shane's death and was very saddened to hear about it. I knew Shane when we both worked in Gaza and admired him very much. He was incredibly wise and smart, he had a really good read and approach to the situation, I always learned a lot from him during our conversations. He really made sure to look after everyone and was really well-liked. My deepest condolences to his family and friends, he will be missed by so many.

I had the pleasure to work with Shane on the Syria-Turkey border in 2014 when we both worked for Global Communities. Shane had that rare combination of incredible competence, courage, and a big heart. It was a privilege as well as a pleasure to work with him. He spoke of his family, and I know you miss him. And he will be missed by all of those he helped and would have continued to help.
