Shane was a bright light at AerCap and will be missed by all who knew him. He always brought a calming influence, a smile, and a aura of competence to the office and his work. His passing challenges our unspoken assumptions about life and reminds us of the impermanence of our time on earth. Life is fragile; Shane's passing reminds us that it should be cherished. I do not pretend to know the depth of the grief that his family will suffer. However, I confirm for me and for his friends and colleagues at AerCap, he will be greatly missed. Rest in peace, Shane.

Sincere condolences to the Flanagan's and extended family at this time. I first met Shane in SRS in the early 1990's. I found him to be a very thoughtful and courteous young gent, a real credit to his family, and a real benefit to his many friends. More recently I met him in Dublin Airport, and found him to be unchanged by the passing of many years. I am certain that these sentiments are expressed by the numerous former members of the Irish Air Corps that had the pleasure of working with Shane over the years. Ar dheis Dé go raibh sé.

It is many years since I have been in contact with Shane, life brought us down different paths.
