I remember Shane from school as a true gentleman, always gentle and kind. You wouldn’t have guessed he loved heavy metal music. He was so very popular and had so many friends, and whenever I saw him over the years, he never seemed to age. May he rest in peace.

Nicole, I was heartbroken to hear Shane had reached his final resting place. He fought hard with you by his side every step of the way. Remember the happy moments you shared together and let them bring you strength to get through the tough days that may come. Shane was a true gentleman whos soul and character will live on in you.

I have many fond memories of Shane but one of the most recent is when he was in our home plastering. He was having a cup of tea with some chocolates. Our dog Sasha decided to join him and eat some of those chocolates!!

Shane called me and said Emma she's after eating the chocolates paper and all ... and I wasn't going to put my hand near her to take them back haha

Rest in forever peace Shane. Shine down over your daughter, brother, sisters and those who will miss you dearly.

Thanks for the memories, Shane.

Although we drifted over the years, I will always remember with great fondness the times we shared throughout secondary school and beyond. Our shared love of all things rock and metal, the mini jam sessions on guitar and bass, the gigs, the pints and chats in The Coach House — to name but a few.

To Nicole, Arlene, Cos and Fiona, I am so very sorry for your loss. Shane truly was one of life’s genuinely nice guys.
