Very sad to see the announcement of Shay's passing - he was such a great character and I and my family have many happy memories of him going way way back. I last saw Shay at Frank's funeral, and he hadn't changed a scrap, witty as ever!

I think they both understood what a magnificent thing it is to be alive. The love of family. The sheer silliness of it all sometimes. The need for kindness. That was what Shay stood for in my eyes - aside from his outstanding company and diplomacy whenever it was needed. I’m so deeply sorry for your loss. Shay was a kind and gentle soul whose presence brought warmth and joy to everyone around him. I’ll always treasure our time together in Nerja, his love of gardening, the care he put into his soup, and of course, the precise color he required for his tea. The boys will never forget his generous chocolate gifts and the way he lit up around them.

He was a truly wonderful grandad and father, and he will be missed so very much. RIP
