As fellow players together, he encouraged me, hammered me, dug me out of trouble, but most of all he cared for me and all the rest of us on the team. Always with a wink or a smile. He was brilliant. First came across Shay in 1969/70 in Belgrove F.C. which led to great success on the pitch and great celebrations in The Sheds. Followed Shay to Lusk F.C.in the late 1980s early 1990sand more success followed. A great character to be around and deepest condolences to Audrey, S tephen and Bridget. Rest in peace to my wonderful Grandad, he was an amazing man with a heart of gold. He could light up a room with his witt and sense of humour and was always up for the craic. He was always a great role model to me growing up, from showing me how to kick a ball to swinging a golf club or just being there for a chat when you needed it. He'll rest easy knowing his daughter Audrey will be looked after now that he has passed. You'll be sadly missed by all, your loving Grandsons Sean & Emre xx
