Sorry to hear of the passing of the wonderful Sheila Curtin. The Australian chapter of the Curtins finally got to meet her and the rest of the family in 2017. Although in her 90s, Sheila was great company and such an unforgettable personality. We are all richer for knowing her. It is with deep sadness that we learned that our dear cousin Sheila Curtin recently passed at the age of 99.

Many of us first met Sheila, her husband Tim and her sister Bridie on our first family visit from the US to Ireland in 1999, along with our Irish cousins at the home of Tadgh Curtin, their first cousin, along with their children in Blackrock, Cork City.

Each trip to Ireland provided a connection to the homeland of my grandmother Bridget Curtin McElligott who was born in Kilpadder and an aunt to Sheila, Bridie and Tadgh, who are first cousins to my mother, aunts and uncle. Our Irish cousins welcomed us with a loving embrace.

Our connections to our cousins in Ireland run strong, and we are blessed to be able to know one another and the family history and to have visited the family homestead in Kilpadder.

Sheila and Bridie will be missed and we take comfort in knowing they lived long lives in the heart of their families.
