Like Deirdre and Frieda, we got to know Sheila on that same trip to China and she made a lasting impression. Even though she was newly retired and we were in our 30s, she was the life and soul of the group. That was once she got over the shock of being in the company of a gang of 30-somethings - "I thought price would be a sufficient deterrent" was her early greeting. She was marvellous, interesting, adventurous, challenging... just all-round great fun! So it is sad to hear of death but we will always cherish the great memories of that brief encounter.
My condolences to Sheila’s family. I was on a trip to China with Sheila in the early ‘90s. She provided us all with great entertainment throughout the holiday. A fantastic person. She was one of the highlights of our trip.
Sincere sympathies to Síle’s family on her sad passing. Met Síle on a trip to China many years ago and we still enjoy the memories of all the fun we had with her. She was one of a kind and will be fondly remembered. May she rest in peace.
Condolences to her family and friends. Ms Daly was a wonderful teacher who had that rare quality of being truly interested and invested in her students in a way that we knew she was on our side. She encouraged us to question the status quo and think for ourselves at a time when that wasn't really the done thing. And she did that while still keeping the nuns and the powers-that-be on side. She was lovely. I wish I could be more eloquent and do justice to her influence on me but she was one of those one-in-a-million teachers and we were so lucky to have her in St. Anne's. May she rest in peace.
I was away and just heard the news of Miss Daly’s recent death .
I’ll miss her . I went to St Anne’s in the 70’s.I didn’t have Miss Daly as a teacher but have been lucky to have met her frequently out walking . We stopped many a time for chats and laughter , reminiscing about days in St Anne’s , Mayo and life . She was an inspirational lady. Her style of matching , hats , scarves and gloves and her sheer determination to get those steps in even before they were a thing was super ! I recall one chilly day telling her to be careful as ice was forecast in the following days and she duly strode off saying ‘ well I must make hay while the sun shines ‘.. she was witty , fit and bright as a button ...a beautiful soul .
Rest In Peace Miss Daly. Condolences to her family .
Rest in Peace Aunty Sheila . Great that we met recently at my cousin Jim Mongeys funeral . A spirited and unique lady .
John Daly and Christine Masterson 💚❤️
My deepest sympathy and condolences to the Daly Family. May Sheila rest in peace
Sincere sympathies to Miss Daly's family and friends on her passing. Miss Daly was a fabulous teacher and I have very fond memories of her whooshing in with her cloak half off, pick up the English book, look at the heading of the poem/story, close the book and start the class. Never having to look at the book again. It was the only class I truly loved in school. A true teacher. RIP
Sincere sympathies to Miss Daly's family and friends on her recent passing. She was an amazing teacher - so enthusiastic and colourful. I had a lovely chat with her a couple of years back and was delighted to get the opportunity to thank her. It is because of her I have such a love of drama and literature. She was an inspiration. May her gentle soul rest in peace.

Sympathy to the Daly and Mongey families on the death and passing of Sheila RIP. She was a beautiful and delightful lady in the lives of all she met. She was great fiends with my mum and I remember her visits to our house which we all looked forward to and were full of excitement. My own occasional visit to her from Dalgan always sparked great life in me. No doubt Sheila RIP is entertaining them in Heaven with getting the singing and dancing going. Some people teach, others inspire and foster a love of learning. Ms Daly was one of these latter types when I had the privilege of attending both her Irish and English classes in St Anne’s in the 1970s. May she now rest in peace.🕯🙏
Sincere condolences to Sheila's family - we are very sorry to hear of your loss.

Sheila was a wonderful lady and we enjoyed meeting her along the Dodder.

She always had a pat and a kind word for our dogs, and we enjoyed our many conversations with her.

Rest in Peace.
An inspirational character we are so lucky to have known. She fostered a love of reading, learning and acquiring knowledge in us, her grand (and great grand)nieces and nephews, from a very early age. To this day I have books she gifted us for Christmas many many years in my own classroom. Always a joy to listen to. Great memories of debating politics and current affairs across the dinner table.

Rest in Peace Sheila.
My sincere condolences to the Daly family on the sad passing of Sheila.

Sheila led a rich and wonderful life, vividly remembered by all who met her.

A mark of a life well lived is the number of friends and family who cherished her.

So sorry to hear of Ms Daly's death, even though she had reached a great age. She taught me Gaeilge and Bearla in Kilcullen many many years ago. A lovely person, an inspiring teacher. I have spoken about her many times in the intervening years and always with admiration. A feisty lady who loved life. Leaba i measc na naomh go raibh aici.
Sheila was a great character with an independent and assertive spirit. She spoke her truth without fear or favour. I always enjoyed her company and indeed picking her brains on bits of family history.

Rest in Peace Ms. Daly. A truly gifted teacher, who inspired my lifelong love of poetry. What an impact this woman had on so many of us. I feel truly fortunate to have been her student all those years ago.
Sincere sympathy on the death of Sheila to all her relatives. I know ye will all miss her fantastic personality and zest for life. Meeting Sheila was better than any tonic available.
I only got to know Shiela when she was well into her nineties through our common Mayo connections and we had a few outings and house visits...living at opposite ends of the same long road in Churchtown...her independent nature and physical prowess and clear thinking were impressive. Her homemade cakes were nice ,too!
May Sheila's gentle soul Rest in Peace
I have very fond memories of staying with (Great) Aunty Sile when we were kids. And in later years admired Sile and her zest for life. I enjoyed our chats over a cup of tea and always left Churchtown with a smile on my face.
