Dear Pat & Family, Please accept our sincere condolences on the loss of your beloved wife and mother. I had the pleasure of meeting my cousin Sheila on only 2 occasions: during my family’s visit to Ireland in 1965; and in 1999 when my (now deceased) husband Peter & I visited Ireland with our daughters Janet & Joanna to show them the land of their ancestors. We stopped by your Salthill home with the intention of taking you to dinner to renew (& establish) an acquaintance before moving on to our next B&B. But the hospitable Guerins would have none of that! Sheila & Pat insisted that we stay with them while in that part of Galway. So we spent a lovely day-and-a-half learning about my father’s branch of the family, and also wide-ranging aspects of the country in general. My daughters remember to this day the warmth of their welcome by Sheila & Pat during that visit. We are truly saddened to hear of her passing, and offer our heartfelt sympathy on this great loss. Sheila will be remembered in our prayers this Christmas and always. A memorial Mass will be offered for Sheila at my parish in Stittsville, Ontario after the Christmas holiday.

Heartfelt condolences to Pat and all the family. Sheila was always a very kind and helpful neighbour to us - especially when Dad was sick and then when Jojo arrived. She had such a wealth of wisdom and life experience and was effortlessly funny too. Always a pleasure to chat to and would always make you smile. She will greatly missed. Codladh sámh, Sheila.

We are both heartbroken to learn of the passing of Sheila, and so sorry to have missed her funeral.

No news is good news and we were chocked by your message.

Have always appreciated and had good times with Sheila (and you), in Malawi (50 years ago!), Stockholm and last, but not least, in Galway., where we never could have had a better local guide.

"And so the wheel of life rolls on.", as you said. Take it, that you have your children around, to support you! We can only try to send you good vibrations, from island to island.

Our deepest sympathy is with Pat (Daideo to our grandsons) Eoin, and all the D’Arcy & Guerin families at this saddest of times. Sheila was a very quick witted intelligent and caring lady who will live on in our memories and through our grandchildren.
