Sincere condolences to my Gran aunt Josie, Gerry, Colette and Barry on the passing of my Gran aunt Sheila. I have fond memories of Sheila when she came on many of her visits to my Grandparents Mary and John Pollard in Blessington, Wicklow. I have memories of trips into Dublin with my Nana Mary and Sheila. I also recall our stays with Josie and Jerry in Cork and Sheila was always present. I remember Sheila as being a great story teller and having a great sense of fun and adventure. I loved hearing all of her stories. May she rest in peace.

We are very sorry to hear of Sheila’s passing. Many years have passed since we met. Auntie Bridgie was one in a million and Sheila treated her with kindness and love all her life. May Sheila get her just reward in heaven. R.I.P. Sheila. The Corcoran Family.
To Josie, Jerry, Colette, and Barry
I want to offer my sincere sympathy to Auntie Josie, Jerry, Collette, and Barry on the passing of Sheila R.I.P. I understand how it has been a difficult time for you all. Unfortunately, I could not be there to support you as you know I needed to take care of Eleanor’s sister on her return visit from Ireland to Texas. I am glad that Eleanor and my daughters Jill, who lives in Kildare, and Katie who lives in San Diego were present to support you all at Sheila’s funeral.
As a nephew of Sheila’s, I remember the many times Sheila traveled with you Jerry, and Josie to visit my mother and father Mary and John Pollard in Blessington. Sheila always had a great sense of fun and adventure. Always full of chat and mischief. I recall hearing of her travels to Spain and Italy on sun holidays, and in later years she spoke fondly of the Chinese restaurant that she worked in at the weekend.
Josie and Jerry, I want to finally say in this difficult time that as a family we know that your kindness and generosity afforded to Sheila made a significant impact throughout her life and was truly unmatched.

I am so sorry to hear of the death of Sheila, a very special lady. She was the most caring person. She had a great sense of humour and was an excellent story teller, many of her stories we heard during the tea breaks in her "office". She was most helpful to staff and students with a cup of tea always on offer. She will never be forgotten. It was a privilege and an honour to have known her. May she rest in peace

I was very sorry to hear that Sheila has died. I am grateful she was part of my early days in Ireland and UCC, she made me to feel so welcome in her little office in Carribgawn and introduced me to the unnegotiable value of tea drinking. A warm, genuine, kind woman with a great sense of humour and an amazing capacity to tell stories. Condolences to her family and friends, the world was a better place because of Sheila.

I am so sad to hear of the death of our dear friend and colleague Sheila. It is difficult even to sketch her warmth, vivacity, wit, helpfulness and sheer goodness. She was such a constant presence in our lives in and beyond the Sociology Department: so much kindness to - and sheer fun with - so many of us and our families. A true treasure, claimed and cherished by such a wide and appreciative circle. My heartfelt condolences to her family and friends.
My deepest sympathy to the Murphy, Collins, Pollard, Madden families, Sheila’s UCC family and friends far and wide.
During my time spent in UCC right through to our last phone call together, Sheila remained a true and loyal friend for over 30 years. She was there to celebrate joyous occasions, but also during the tough times.
I’m fondly remembering all the laughs we had, including about repeating her stories!
Some gems she shared have stayed with me forever, such as, ‘If you haven’t something good to say about someone, don’t say anything at all’.
Codladh sámh Sheila.

Sheila Murph crocheted our Christening gown, taught me how to knit (Ican hear her still "in through the bunny hole, around the big tree, out comes the bunny and off goes she"), bought us sweety cigarettes each week when she visited us and she sang like an angel. Sheila singing in three part harmony with my Mam and Josie on Stephen's Day/New Year's Eve is my favourite childhood memory.
She took incredible care of Bridgie till she was 92 in the most generous, caring, selfless and loving way.
She travelled the world when few people were travelling and we still cherish the gifts she brought home from Italy (her favourite), Romania, Gibraltar, Las Vegas along with all the amazing stories.
We are recalling her stories tonight of climbing Mount Brandon, pilgrimages to Lough Derg, her Mam working in the White House and of how she and Mam accompanied Lena on her honeymoon.
Sheila welcomed everyone to her 'office' on Donovan's Rd where you were always sure of a cuppa, a friendly ear and sound advice.
She was a wonderful friend to our Mam and we are eternally grateful to her for that.
It feels like the end of an era and we are heartbroken to say goodbye to Sheila.
