Sidney James SUSSEX

Sid picked me up from the train station. It was my first trip to Ireland with Patti Adams. I still am amazed that he got all of our luggage in that little car! From the first moment of introduction, I knew he had a kind heart and larger than life personality. He treated me like family. I love that man.
Prayers and blessings to all of his family and many friends as he rests with his Lord.

Dearest Eileen, my heart is heavy at the news of your loss. So difficult to lose a loved one, but still comforting to know that the family is greeting him with much love and laughter up above. What a party they are having! Love you bunches, cuz, and sending hugs from across the pond.

I had the pleasure of knowing Sid through the Community Employment Scheme and his dedication to the position of project secretary was second to none, everything had a place and everything in its place. Sid was a true gentleman and it was a pleasure to have known him. Rest in peace Sid and may the light of heaven shine upon you.

Sid was on the FAS with me many years ago when my kids were small and they loved meeting him as well. I used to meet himself and Eileen in Dunnes and we always had great chats and it was always a pleasure to see them.

He was office secretary to the F.Á.S. scheme based in the Bandhall during the construction of the extension to our hall in the late nineties. Also, Eileen's father J.J. Shine, provided a practice room for the band in a lean-to shed at the back of his shop at Pouldine cross during the fifties and sixties. May Sid rest in peace. Amen.

The most kind man with a twinkle in his eye. Sid you were known and loved by so many. Yourself and "Auntie" Eileen would visit everyone in the Shopping Centre for many years and we looked forward to the weekly catch ups and banter.

Sid also was the best Santa we had in the Centre. He brought great joy to many children at Xmas time.
