To Anne, Tom, Robin, Adam, Marta - my sincere condolences, I'm so sorry for your devastating loss.

Simon was my first best friend from the moment I joined NDNSP. I remember being in your house every second Thursday after school, and Simon in ours. I remember playing football with a tennis ball in your sitting room with the three boys. He started supporting Everton so I copied him (although he later switched to Arsenal!) Together with Jonathan Bliss, we invented a Lord of the Rings board game with complicated rules and homemade metal figurines, driven by Simon of course. I remember my one gig with Giaconda at the NDNSP summer fete, although the only song I can remember playing is "The Wanderer". Simon was a proper rock star. Later in Mount Temple, I remember Simon and I getting grinds from Anne at your kitchen table, he always understanding things more quickly than I did.

After school we drifted apart a bit, but I was delighted to catch up with him again after he moved to Berlin. We met up several times over the years, including on his 40th birthday. I bought him a pint, and he was pleasantly surprised as in Germany it's the birthday boy who buys the drinks. More recently, he mentioned Marta and I knew from how he spoke about her that this was serious. Simon would have been a brilliant father, and his spirit will live on in his daughter.

I'll always remember Simon, particularly his intellect, curiosity and good nature. I still can't believe he's gone. Rest in peace, Simon.
Sincere Condolences to family and friends.

I remember Simon from the early days of NDNSP when he was really small but had a huge smile. Very sad to hear he has passed away.

May he rest in peace
In life, you don't get to choose your family but, you do get to choose your friends. Simon and I choose each other as friends, close friends.
Simon could be very disarming. I remember one time we were in town and I was arguing with him about something and he stopped me mid-sentence and said "Bryan, its OK, I love you" and that was pretty much the end of our rough.

There is nothing to say except I love you too my friend and I will miss you immensely.

I see you in my mind's eye as a doting father to your little girl and I can't quite bear the thought.

I remember Simon boring me senseless about Proust and Derrida. Of course we weren't really talking about Derrida or deconstructionism, we were just nattering whilst filling time with each other.

And of course my friend Simon could do whatever he wanted to do, deconstructionist philosophy today, data-science tomorrow, effortlessly, he had so many gifts.

I know the loss for Anne, Tom, Adam, Robin and Marta is intense, in fact there are no adequate words in the English language to capture or salve. I also know that in Simon's loss there is also a new life yet to be born, which will receive all of the same love nurturing and uplifting her.

"I live in the present speaking of myself in the mouths of my friends, I already hear them speaking on the edge of my tomb... Already, yet when I will no longer be. As though pretending to say to me, in my very own voice: rise again." - The Work of Mourning Jaques Derrida
