So very sorry to hear this sad news. I met Simon in 1971 in Lynn Lake, Manitoba. He and my late husband Jim Walsh (also from Ireland) travelled and worked together in many mines across Canada.
Simon was a quiet fellow, and very respected by all who knew him. I can see from all the messages here that many other people had the same thoughts on this true gentleman,. When Simon left Lynn Lake, Jim stayed on, and we marrried. We travelled back to Ireland often and visited with Simon several times. The conversation between these two friends on their work days together was always enduring and memorable. I hope they are visiting now. I can just hear the laughter.....
