Dee, Clare & family , thinking of you all at this sad time ,We enjoyed the stories Mr Bellew told us , He always made us laugh on his visits , A gentleman , Rip
I cannot say that I knew Sir Henry well. But, I certainly knew of him! It has been obvious to me, since arriving in the Mountbellew area in the early '90s, that the Bellews were an industrious family. You only have to look at the rivers they canalised for milling and electricity-generation purposes - and much else they built. It was also clear that people thought back to them with affection. When I next walk across the eight-arch bridge from the woods and then, a short distance further, view St. Mary's church rising before me, I shall think of Sir Henry's robust laugh and of the worthy forebears who preceded him. R.I.P.
I want to express my sincere condolences To Sir Henry’s family and friends. The end of an era. The Grattan-Bellews will always be fondly remembered in Mountbellew and surrounding areas for their Christian values and decency. Thank you for shaping Mountbellew into the vibrant town it is today.

Sincere sympathy to Sir Henry's family on his death and to all who will miss his presence from their lives. The people of Mountbellew and the surrounding parishes of NE Galway owe a huge debt of gratitude to Sir Henry Grattan-Bellew, and his forebears, for their assistance, development, employment of local people, support for local initiatives, their Christian charity and endowments to local religious and secular causes. May Sir Richard rest in peace and reap the Heavenly reward for all his goodness. In Iothlann Dé go gcastar sinn.
