Sister Brídín Clancy

My sympathies to the Clancy family and the Brigidine sisters on the death of Mother Senan as I knew her. May she rest in peace. I was glad to be able to listen to and watch the beautiful on line ceremony. Senan had a huge influence on my life and I share many of the sentiments expressed by Carmel in the eulogy.

I offer my sincere condolences to the Brigidine Community and all family members on the death of Sr. Brídín, or Sr.Senan as I knew her. She demonstrated gentleness and kindness in both word and action continually imparting wisdom, of which I and so many others, will always be grateful for. She had a beautiful demeanour with a great sense of joy and fun. May her soul now rest in the arms of Mary and Jesus. Amen.

Sincere Condolences to the Brigidine Community on the death of Sr Senan or Aunty B as she was fondly known for all my life. Aunty B was a loving relative who checked in on me throughout my life and was a listening ear and great inspiration whenever we spoke. She possessed that wisdom and support that influenced the way one looks at life and I always felt the better of a conversation with her. She will be a great loss to the Brigidine Family and also Clancy, Lawlor and Sheedy Families but her legacy will live with us for the rest of our lives. Sr Carmel depicted her perfectly in her eulogy and Fr Maguire celebrated her Mass in a very meaningful and sincere manner for someone who only knew her for a short time. He would certainly have got the thumbs up and we sincerely thank him and we also thank all the Brigidine’s for their wonderful support. Ar dheist Dé go raibh a anam dílis

As l think of Brídín Sr Senan as we knew her in Abbeyleix .l think of a great Brigidine sister and a loving friend to all her family ,her sister Kitty and her many nieces and nephews and extended family and friends. I am especially aware of her niece Mary and grand niece Megan at this time so far away in Brisbane Australia . I had the privilege of knowing Mary when l taught in Goresbridge and to catching up with her when l was in Australia . I know ow much Mary loved Aunty B.
I shared photos with Brídín after that visit which gave great joy to Brídín .RIP.
We will all miss her presence among us.

This morning we read from the Book of Proverbs 31 in memory our beloved Bridin (Sr Senan to many of you and us.)

“Who shall find a valiant woman? She is worth more than precious gems.
She is a woman of strength and dignity and has no fear of old age.
When she speaks, her words are wise and kindness is the rule of everything she says.”

Our Brigidine motto is “Fortiter et Suaviter” which translates ‘Strength and Gentleness’
Bridin epitomised it in her life.
We were her novices and we loved her for all that she was to us. May she rest in the company of all those who are gone before her.

Sincere sympathy to Sr Senan’s family and the Brigidine community on her passing. Sr Senan looked out for me during my boarding days in Mountrath and I remember her discreetly passing me welcomed bars of chocolate! Remembering also all of the Brigidine sisters gone before her who left sure a big impression on us all.
