Deep Sadness Lovely Lady May God be Good to Her
Tá brón orainn uilig an nuacht seo a chloisint.
Carmel was a lifelong friend of our mother Nóra Mac Cinna (Ní Oláin) from Monaghan town where they grew up.
They left home in their teens to attend the preparatory college for teaching at Falcarragh in Co. Donegal.
They progressed then to Carysfort College in Dublin where they completed their training as múinteoirí / National Teachers.
Over the years Carmel visited our family home in Monaghan many times, where she and our mother recited poems they had learnt and regaled us with funny stories about their time in school and college together.
Bhí Gaeilge líofa ag Carmel and she was great craic.
They kept in touch by post when Carmel went away to work on the missions in Africa.
We all remember Carmel’s big personality, her intelligence, quick wit and sense of fun. Our mother always said that she was a great mathematician.
Our deepest condolences to Carmel’s niece and to her Sisters of Marie-Auxiliatrice community.
Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam dílis.
Síona, Nuala, Lorcán, Colm agus Eoin Mac Cinna
Rest in peace Sr. Carmel. Our lady of Fatima pray for her
