I am so sorry to hear of Spencer’s death. It’s years since I saw him having worked with him when he was a newly qualified Physio at the Royal Orthopaedic hospital in Birmingham setting up the ROCS team. Spencer was such a lovely, funny man and a fantastic physiowho I am proud to have worked with.
I just wanted his family to know I am thinking of them.

His death has been completely devastating for us all, but the love and strength Aileen, Ellen, Louise and Eoin have shown for Spencer has been incredible. My love for them could not be greater.

My heart weighs a ton when I think about Spencer, but I am so grateful that he was such a big part of my life. A brother I truly looked up to and admired. We grew up in the same bedroom, we got into so much trouble as kids, he was best man at my wedding, I was best man at his, and we have so many happy memories of spending time with him and his amazing family, both in the UK and in Ireland. His death leaves a huge hole in all of our lives, but we will feel his love and his laughter forever. RIP Spen x

Dear Aileen and family, I was so shocked and saddened to hear about Spencer's passing. I worked with Spencer during my first senior job in Birmingham and it was I who learned more from him! As Spencer’s parents we feel such gratitude for your condolences. We wanted our five boys to be gentlemen and it is obvious from your remarks that Spencer truly was one. We are thankful for his life of dedication to his family and the health service. We are grateful for the three wonderful grandchildren, Ellen, Louise and Eoin, that Spencer and his beautiful wife, Aileen, gave us. Our love for them all has given us the strength to get through this devastating time, although I think it may be a long road. It is not the natural order of things to have our children go before us and Spencer is the second son that we have said goodbye to. Benjamin died in 1981 and we are comforted to know that he and Spencer are reunited. We love you Aileen, Ellen, Louise and Eoin and will be here for you as long as we live. To Spencer, our wonderful son, we say goodbye for a short while. Until we meet again, love always and forever, Mum and Dad xx

To Aileen and children, to Wendy, Howard, Nathan, Sam and Joel, I am so, so sorry to hear of your loss. I feel so very sad on learning the news this evening. I met Spencer as an 11 year old and we remained friends until he was at Pinderfields in Wakefield after which our lives took different directions. I am so utterly shocked by the news. I remember Spencer as the most kind, generous, funny, relaxed, laid back and most importantly loyal man. He knew my late mum very well and she loved him very much! I was with Spencer after his eye accident. He was incredible during that time. So strong, so resilient, so positive and so forgiving. I remember him as a true gentleman and a beautiful person. I was so sad to hear of the untimely passing of Spencer. I worked with Spencer in the ISCP and more recently we completed a Leadership Programme together. Spencer was an absolute gentleman, a fantastic leader and physiotherapy manager. He was kind, committed and fun. My sincere condolences to his family.
