Sr Agnes is remembered fondly by so many. She was an amazing principal , tough but always fair and you could often see her laughing at all of our antics as she turned and walked away after a sensible reprimand ! Dearest Sister Agnes – I owe her so much. She taught me Maths and Science, she was my Principal while in school, she welcomed me with open arms to Mount Sackville while training to be a teacher and later offered me a position as a teacher there and I spent many happy years working alongside her as a colleague. As she did for me (and many others) as a pupil, she guided me gently as a teacher, constantly offering advice and encouragement. She was there as a confidante while she was a Principal and for so many years after she moved on to fulfil her role as a Provincial. A very special person whom I have been privileged to know and love. Rest in peace.

I was very saddened to hear of Sr. Agnes's passing but glad that it was peaceful. I was a Boarder from 1980 to 1984 and have so many wonderful memories with her: her smile, her compassion, bringing us kimberly or mikado biscuits when we were studying for the Inter and Leaving Cert exams, her room in our dorm in 5th year, our graduation ceremony and so many more. I was very fond of Soeur Agnes and I know that even though sometimes we girls gave her a hard time and made her cry she had unconditional love in her heart for all of us.
My sincere condolences to the St. Joseph of Cluny Sisters, everyone at Mount Sackville, her family and friends. I'm sure she had a welcome ready for her in Heaven with Sr. Peter, Sr. Eugene, Sr. Una and all the wonderful Nuns who went before her waiting with open arms. Rest in Peace Sr. Agnes and keep an eye on all your girls, until we meet again

I have fond memories of Sr Agnes during my 5yrs in Mt Sackville Secondary, and she was my Principal through all..Firm but fair..and that smile can still see it..It would light up a room..RiP Aggie..Deborah Duffy (Burke).
We were in Mount Sackville Secondary School between 1973 and 1980 and had experience of being day pupils, weekly boarders and boarders. We admired Sr Agnes greatly. She was an inspirational leader and an excellent manager. Sr Agnes developed in us a love of learning which we hold dear to this day. She was firm but fair, always communicating a sense of what was right and just. Sr Agnes had a knack for “hitting the nail on the head”. She was insightful, competent and confident and, above all, these were qualities she wanted for her students. Sr Agnes worried about her students (and their families) particularly those who were experiencing difficulties. She cared about us. She gave us time. Thank you Sr Agnes.

I wish to offer my deepest sympathy to Sr. Agnes's sisters Anne and Teresa and also to her extended family.. My sympathy also to the Sisters of St. Joseph of Cluny in Mount Sackville and elsewhere. My connection to Sr. Agnes goes back to the late 60s when Sr. Agnes spent a number of years as Principal of St. Joseph's Convent, Ferbane, Offaly where I got my secondary education. She was also in charge of boarders in nearby Gallen Priory where I spent 5 happy years. She was a wonderful teacher, a gifted communicator, always friendly and fair. As boarders we had a chance to get to know her better as we were small in number, never more than 40 . There were many chats late into the night over cocoa. Such happy times. Our paths diverged for a while but I was delighted to meet up with her many times over the years. She loved a chat and a bit of a giggle. Full of humanity but underneath that we knew there was a deep spirituality. Rest in peace dear Sr. Agnes. We loved you.
Thank you for the love and zeal you showed through your years at the helm of the school. I remember how you would not hesitate to grab a hockey stick, roll up your sleeves and join us on the field. You knew how to connect with us when it was needed. May you rest in peace Sr Agnes.
