Sincere condolences to the Sister's of Mercy and to the Saunder's family upon the death of Sr. Assumpta. She was an inspirational and devoted (English) teacher with such a kind heart. I always remember her admiration for W. B.Yeats. Sr. Assumpta and her sisters, Sr.Marie Thérèse and Sr.Mona, had an amazing impact on the lives of so many young women who attended St. Brigid's college. They inspired us to be ambitious while role modeling wonderful faith and Christian values. May she Rest in Peace.

I have fond and lovely memories of my time as a boarding student in St Bridget’s College in the late 60s early 70s.
Sr Assumpta was gentle, kind, caring and a diligent educator. I am grateful to have had Sr. Assumpta through my secondary school days.
We always enjoyed our many visits to the convent to visit St Assumpta. On our last visit in 2023, Sr Assumpta presented us with a signed copy of her book, Sisters of Mercy, Callan, Weaving a Thread Through the First Fifty Years 1872-1922.
Sister Assumpta’s memory will live forever in our hearts.

Fionnuala, my condolences to you, your Mum and your sisters on your dear aunt's passing. It sounds like she was a force of nature, and I know she will be greatly missed. May she rest in peace.

Sincere sympathy to the sisters of mercy community and Saunders family on the death of Sr Assumpta, what a wonderful person and educator, I as privileged to talk to her on the introduction of her book on the Mercy sisters which was for me an amazing insight into a nuns life and it’s many trials and tribulations when education was in its infancy in Ireland and not available to everybody as is the case now. These women, 3 amazing sisters deserve to be celebrated in Callan for the contribution they made to St Brigid and its environs, the testament of their dedication and hard work can be seen in the words of their past pupils here on the condolences on RIP which is touching and sincere like Sr Assumpta and her sisters. May she rest in peace with her beloved sisters.

I was very sad to hear of the death of Sr. Assumpta just today Wednesday. I am so sorry to have missed her funeral because I would have liked to have been able to share in saying my goodbye to her. I last saw Sr. Assumpta when she moved to Waterford. It is over 60 years since I first met this wonderful woman who has been an amazing support to me throughout my life. She was kind, understanding and open to the many changes she has witnessed in her long life. He continued to show an interest in me and my life, long after I left Colaiste Bhride in 1970. She supported me through difficult times and celebrated the good times with me. I will be forever grateful for knowing her and I'm sure wherever she is now that she will be celebrated for the good woman she was in this life. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam dhilís.

I am so sad to hear of Assumpta’s passing. I have very happy memories of our conversations over the years in Callan and more recently in Ferrybank. She was always interested in what I was doing and was incredibly supportive during difficult times. I’m really sorry I was not able to attend any part of her funeral due to parish commitments.
