Sr. Berchmans O'Mahony

Sincere sympath to the O’Mahony family and the Loreto Community on the passing of Sr. Berchmans. She was so kind and caring and loved to chat with us when we would visit Loreto. She was a great friend to my aunt Sr. Kathleen who I was visiting in Loreto today and was enquiring as to how Sr. Berchmans was when I heard she had passed away. I was so sorry to hear this. Reading through all the comments here it shows what a beautiful person she was. May she rest in peace.

Sr Berchmans was a very kind person to all whom she met in life. She was beloved by her students many of whom kept up steady contact long after she had taught them in Loreto. She was dear friend and loyal supporter of my late aunt, Sr Eucharia O'Connor, who entered Loreto shortly before Sr Berchmans. I will remember Sr Berchmans ever fondly as a most kind, friendly and cheerful person from the time I started visiting Loreto Convent in Fermoy as a young child to the last of my visits to Kilkenny towards the end of her life. She had wonderful personal qualities and gifts which she shared very generously with grace and good humour always. May she rest in the eternal peace and joy of the Lord's presence.

She was always there with her support especially at life's milestones. A special memory is from 19 years ago when she got the bus to Cork and walked out to the Erinville hospital to meet my baby son. I always looked forward to her letters with all the news from Fermoy. She loved getting photos and process reports of my boys. I will miss her friendship and kindness. It was good to be able to join in the funeral mass and hear all the great stories about her. Rest in peace Sr Berchmans

It was with sadness we learned of Sr. Berchman's death. We have many fond memories of her down through the years,most particularly in Loreto Fermoy with my aunt Sr Conception. Sadly we hadn't seen her since Covid struck. Our condolences to her Loreto Community (particularly Sr Kathleen)and her family. We will remember her in our prayers

I am saddened to hear of the passing of Sr. Berchmans. What a wonderful, knowledgeable, humourous and kind lady she was - with a word for and genuine interest in those she met. I will always remember meeting with Sr. at lunchtimes in my junior years at Loreto to prepare for quizzes around the county. She will be missed by many. I was so sad to hear Sr Berchmans passed. My deepest condolences to the O’Mahoney family and her Loreta sisters. She had such a big heart so caring and so easy to talk to. She honestly had the patience of Saint dealing with me in the 80’s in school. When I moved to USA in 85 and while she was in Fermoy she sent me hand written updates about town which I so looked forward to. She helped me with missing home. I will cherish them and my special memories of time I was so fortunate to get with Sr Berchmans and all that knew her
