Sincere sympathy to St Catherine’s community, relatives and friends.
Thinking of Sr Catherine every time I pass Westland Row Dublin. The sounds reminds me of the piano corridor first floor Brigidine Convent in the 1980’s. From Down by the Sally Gardens choir to Fiddler on the roof musicals , to learning cello among my classmates. Thank you for teaching us the power of music.

So sorry to hear the sad news of my dear friend Sr Catherine’s passing. Sincere condolences to her family. She brought music & joy to my life as a boarder in Mountrath & later on when she kindly played the organ at my wedding. We kept in touch down through the years & had many great chats. My late sister , Nuala, and I spent happy years in Mountrath 1956-1962 Sr. Catherine always treated us with great kindness and a smiling face. We exchanged Christmas letters until a few years ago and that contact we greatly valued.

Sincere sympathy to Sr Catherine’s sister Rena and all her Brigidine sisters and extended family on her recent passing. Some people leave a lasting mark on you which stays with you throughout your life and for me she was one. As a student in Mountrath, I was so impressed with her workload. She almost single handedly ran junior and senior choirs , junior and senior orchestras, trips to the National Concert Hall, an annual musical (the highlight of our school year ! ), nativity productions, church choir and piano and guitar lessons. She was a powerhouse and instilled a lifelong love of music in me and many of her students. I’m so glad I met her in recent years and got to acknowledge all that to her and say thanks. May she rest in peace.

So sad to read about the death of Sr. Catherine. She tried to teach me the violin, when I was a boarder in the Brigidine Convent in Mountrath. My fingers couldn't take it, so I learned the piano from someone else. May Sr. Catherine rest in peace. She was lovely. I'll never forget her.

Sr Catherine was my piano teacher for many years and she instilled a great love of all things musical to me. I loved the operas and the orchestra and while I know I broke her heart on many an occasion for not practicing , we had a great friendship and mutual respect for each other. We have lovely memories of Sr Catherine's visit to Windsor with her friend Triona, Sr Majella. She loved those annual visits and enjoyed theatre outings to Windsor and London when she was well enjoy to travel. Sr Theresa Kilmurray gave a very fiting tribute to Catherine at her requiem Mass. The legacy of talent in music and bookkeeping she left not just to us Brigidines but to countless pupils, to her choirs, orchestras and 'opera' artists over the years is a lasting one. Donal O'Brien will testifiy to her talent as an accountant. Catherine, may you enjoy many heavenly choirs and orchestras as you are now in your eternal home, united with your beloved parents and sisters. No doubt you'll be asked to conduct some of the choirs! We will miss you.

Sr Catherine and the Brigidine sisters in Mountrath were one of the greatest influences of my life. No words could adequately express my gratitude to them. Ever. I was an orphan when i went to boarding school and Sr Catherine discovered i could sing at the new girls' concert ! Since then, music has helped save my life or at least my sanity ! Sr Catherine was so kind , caring , wise, and affirming.The choirs of heaven will be blessed to receive her beautiful soul..

Sr.Catherine was my piano teacher for ten years. I have fond memories of Sr.Catherine bringing her music students to Dublin every year to the National Concert Hall to hear the Dublin Symphony Orchestra play.
