Having only just read Sr Ciaran's Death Notice I hasten to send my deepest sympathy to the FMDM Sisters and to Sister Ciaran's family relations. As a Consultant Obstetrician in Portiuncula for over 30 years I was very fortunate to have . worked very closely with Sister Ciaran on St Anne's Ward for much of that time.. Her standards were impeccable and the way in which she ran the ward was a major reason for the fact that Portiuncula obstetrics flourished during her time. .
' They just don't make them like that these days!' May she rest in peace

I hold lovely memories of having worked with Sr Ciaran both as a student nurse and later as staff nurse. A highly skilled midwife, a most competent manager and inspirational leader in her roles as Ward Sister on Maternity and later as Matron of Portiuncula Hospital.
