Sr. Colette, lifelong and dear friend since I began my education at Scoil Eoin Baiste, Balloonagh, 71 years ago, is now enjoying the love, joy and peace of Heaven. I like to think that Joan, Lily, Maureen and Biddy (Sr. Philomena) were at 'The Gates' to welcome you home. Ta leaba, solas agus suaimhneas tuillte agat i measc na naomh. You dedicated your life as a Sister of Mercy to the ideals and vision of Catherine Mc Auley. Your commitment to the ministry of liturgical music as organist and choir director touched the lives of all who were blessed to have been led and encouraged by you. Your special enthusiasm and love for and promotion of plainchant touched the hearts and souls of all who came to be nourished at the. Table of the Lord. Only the best was good enough. Your care for your beloved elder sister, Joan, in her final years was exemplary. Your interest in and care for all your past pupils and choir members and your efforts to keep in contact with them is deeply appreciated. Colette Stafford, proud Ballybricken woman, a woman of prayer, of faith, hope and love, a woman of warmth and welcome, a woman of loyalty and friendship is now with Lord of Life among the choirs of angels and saints, enjoying 'The Scenes that are Brightest.' Mile Buiochas duit as ucht do dhea shampla. Urbs Intacta Manet. Rest in Peace.

I have many fond memories of Sr Colette teaching me piano in Balloonagh Primary school, and later being taught Business Studies by her in the Balloonagh Secondary School. Sister Colette together with
Sister Winnifred and my beloved mother Anne Barrett, would have many a time, gathered around the pianos tinkling the ivories at Communion, Confirmations and Mercy Days for the pupils and families of Balloonagh primary school. I can imagine the ivories in heaven are being sounded out in welcoming Sr Colette to her heavenly choir now. May her gentle soul rest in peace, agus faoi bhrait Muire go raibh sí choíche ar Neamh.
Le mór mheas,

Déanaim comhbhrón ó chroí le gach uile duine atá faoi chiach toisc Sr. Colette a bheith imithe uainn. The Stafford family retained a strong and loyal connection to the Waterford Mercy community for more than a century, and Sr. Colette was the last link. I'm sure that "choirs of angels came to meet her and present her to God the Most High": When she finds the organ in Heaven, these choirs will sing even more beautifully; Go raibh sí geal agus sonasach ar dheis Dé, agus i measc na naingeal.
