Sincere sympathy to the Dominican Community and Des, Kevin, and the Swan family on the sad passing of Sr. Ethna. Peadar Crowley and I had the great privilege of visiting her in Santa Sabina last October. She was in great form on that occasion and was so looking forward to her 100th birthday. Ethna was a member of ISPA (International School Psychology Association) for many years and together with her great friend the late Saradha Supramaniam graced many conferences by her attendance and active participation. She will be sadly missed by all her friends in ISPA.
My sincere sympathy to all of Sr Ethna’s family, fellow sisters and friends. She provided me with supervision while I was training in UCD and afterwards. I found her to be a very kind, gentle person who was very committed to her work. I greatly valued and appreciated her guidance, her kindness and her support. May she rest in peace.
I want to offer my deepest condolences to the Swan family and the Dominican community on the passing of Sr. Ethna. I got to know Sr. Ethna when I studied psychology in UCD as a mature student. Although she was retired, she offered to do a course in educational testing with a small group of students. She was an extraordinary teacher who explained complex ideas lucidly. She was such a kind and generous person. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam dílis
May Sr Ethna Swan enjoy the richly deserved rewards of Heaven. RIP
Please accept my deepest sympathy. Ar dheis De go raibh a hanam.

I was deeply saddened to learn today of the death of my much valued former colleague Ethne Swan. Her contribution to the work of the Psychological Society of Ireland (P.S.I.) has been enormous. As Chair of the Diploma Management Committee she was tireless in her dedication to duty, where she showed a caring and committed attitude to all with whom she worked. Sincere condolences to Desmond and the family circle
I was saddened to hear of Sr. Ethna's passing. She supervised my Master's thesis in Educational Psychology many years ago and we stayed in contact ever since. Her teaching style was to affirm, encourage, explore and suggest in a quiet, understated way. She was a superb role model and her contribution to the development of educational psychology in Ireland was immense. I was privileged to know such a kind, erudite, wise and wonderful woman. I will remember her with affection and gratitude.
My sincere condolences to her brother Desmond, the extended Swan family and her Dominican Sisters in Sion Hill and in Santa Sabina Nursing Home.

I always thought she was so remarkable: so gentle, so knowledgeable, so committed to her profession, and so deeply caring and humane. Sister Ethna Swan devoted her life to quietly influencing and shaping the lives of many people. Her lasting impact is evident through the countless individuals who have been touched by her kindness and wisdom.

We extend our deepest sympathy to all who had the privilege of knowing her, and in particular to the Swan family, wherever they may be. Aunty Ethna will forever remain in our hearts, and her absence will be deeply felt. May she rest in peace.
