Sister Germaine’s life was indeed a life fulfilled. For so many of her former pupils she was a guiding light.
We are deeply grateful. May she rest in peace.
My sincere sympathy Shelia and to all your family and the O Neill family on the death of your beloved Aunt Mary. You always spoke fondly of her and she had a great presence in your lives..God granted her a long happy nd fruitful life. Sympathy to her Loretto sisters and to her many friends in Kenya. May Sr Germaine rest in peace. Noreen.
On behalf of Sr Germaine's family, I wish to add our heartfelt thanks and deep appreciation to all of you who have shared your expressions of sympathy and your memories of her as a teacher, counsellor and friend.
She was a truly remarkable and extraordinary woman, an outstanding and inspirational teacher and a powerful source of support for so many people. She touched many lives in ways we could never imagine.
She was the best aunt anyone could ask for, sharing her unconditional love and affection for us all. Throughout our lives, the pride and affection we have all felt for her is simply immeasurable.
She loved life and celebration and she was great fun.
We all loved her very dearly and we will miss her presence in so many ways. It is the end of an era for us as a family.
A very long life, very well-lived.
However, we are consoled to know that Sr Germaine/Aunt Mary has completed her very long journey and has reached her final destination with God and the Angels.
May she know and enjoy her eternal peace!
RIP my dear Mother Germaine. You were a wonderful fun woman, the best headmistress and I thank you for all your kindness to me at Loreto Convent Msongari Nairobi. I will always keep you close to my heart.
Sister Germaine,

I first met you around the strand in Balbriggan, exchanging polite talk , eventually in time the chats got longer and more interesting.
Always a kind word and full of fun, regaling me with happy memories of her time in Kenya.
I know you were much loved and cared for by your fellow sisters in Loreto Balbriggan, and will be sadly missed by all who knew you.

RIP good lady, a life well lived.
Sister Germaine was headmistress of Loreto Convent Msongari in Nairobi when I was at school there in the 1970s. She was a lovely person and very good to me. I was not in touch with her thereafter and hope she had a fulfilling life. I am so pleased that she lived to a ripe old age. May she rest in peace.
It is with profound sadness that the Loreto High School Limuru (Kenya) class of 1979 has received news of the passing away of Sister Germaine.

We are all grown up women now but the memories we had with Sister Germaine remain fresh.

Sister Germaine was a dynamic teacher who excelled in the creatives. There was never a dull moment in her lessons. She was engaging, full of humour and this made her lessons exciting. She was a great actor, and we remember with nostalgia how she would narrate scenes in the English set books at A level, ‘The Road’ and ‘A man for all seasons’.

Outside class, she taught us verse speaking and we excelled in national competitions under her tutelage. She was a great photographer, shared her photography skills with us and helped us colorfully sustain our memories of Loreto High School Limuru. She was always ready to capture great moments in our school life. We continue to relive our teenage lives through her lenses when we share those wonderful pictures amongst us.

Rest in peace Sister Germaine. You have run your good race here on earth. Your spirit lives in all of us whose lives you shaped at an early age and left a lasting impact into the future.

Remembered fondly by the girls, now women, whose lives you so lovingly touched.
To me you were a wonderful role model for being strict and fair; for holding both seriousness and joy; for being supportive and challenging; for showing your big heart and big mind; and for your never ending faith in your calling. The example you set has guided me in both my personal and professional life over the years. Thank you 🙏 Bless you 🪷 Rest in peace Germaine ✝️

I grew up in Kenya and went to school in Msongari. Sr Germaine was one of the greatest women I have ever had the privilege to know. She was kind and fair to all and will be much missed.
Thank you for your kindness towards me while you were Headmistress at Msongari.
May you Rest Well
This sad news today marks the end of a remarkable life led by a remarkable lady who had a huge impact on my life and many many others. My years at Msongari are some of the happiest in my life and I give much of that credit to Sr Germaine. She could be very Kali but always fair and full of good council. She will never be forgotten.
My sincere condolences to all the family. Rest in peace Sr Germaine
Sr Germaine was a remarkable presence when I was a student at Msongari in the late 1960s. I am grateful to have known her.
May you rest in peace. Knowing your reputation of a fair, kind and caring person helped mould the many students that passed through the convents you worked in. I for one thank you for your part in making me the person I am today. God Bless and sleep well x
Dear Sister Germaine, may you be at peace. You deserve it after all those years of hard work, spent far from your home and family. Thank you for standing in for my family when I was far from my own home. I will always remember you with fondness, respect, and love. Paola Fornari

My condolences to the family and community of Mother Germaine, as I knew her. She was a guiding influence when I was at Loreto Convent, Msongari, Kenya. She was well respected, a strict and fair disciplinarian - with a twinkle in her eye. She made a big impression on me and, although it’s been over 50 years, I have never forgotten her.
Really sad to hear of Sister Germaine’s passing. She was my headmistress at Loreto High School (Limuru, Kenya) many, many years ago in the late 1970’s. She was instrumental to my growth as a young teenage lady, and installed values in me - kindness, focus & hard work - that have stood me in good stead.

She has been a blessing to many. I thank God for her life. Definitely a life well lived. Now, she’s back with our Dad in Heaven, where she will receive a warm embrace from Dad & hear Him say “Well done Sister Germaine. Let me show you to the mansion I have prepared for you”.

Rest in eternal peace Sister Germaine. May your family and friends find comfort in Christ Jesus during this difficult time.
My sincere condolences to Sr. Germaine's family. She was a very special person and I will always remember what she taught me as a girl and a student in Msongari, Nairobi. RIP Sr. Germaine.
When I received the news, the first thing that came to my heart was "THANK YOU Lord for having given me the privilege of enjoying Germaine". She did not need to speak to transmit to you: serenity, peace, love and tenderness... a cheerful woman with a great sense of humour. A woman of deep conversations. To her nephew John my deepest condolences, I know how much you loved and cared for her, we will miss her but with the joy of having enjoyed her. Thank You Lord for my dear Germaine's life of faith for her faithfulness and for You Lord being the Lord of her life. Amen 🙏 Lots of love
