Happy memories of the good old days and her being my first girlfriend back in our school days before she decided to join the Sisters of Mercy.

Deepest sympathy at this time to all members of the extended Cullinan family.

Our new parish at St Anne’s in Sligo town in early 1970s coincided with the nearby youth club of same name moving to mixed membership.

Hard to envision it now but that was both a radical and uncertain step. It was urgently needed in an area then teeming with young people. The task required energy, vision and powerhouse leadership. We got all those things half a century ago from Sr Jacinta.

She showed great trust in those of us who didn’t know her previously as she drew a small working committee around her. That was never an easy task and at times thankless.

Over the subsequent decades I kept track through the Roscommon Herald of her great activism and advocacy in other very important fields in other towns. Roscommon rightly held St Jacinta in the highest esteem.

May Sister now rest in Peace after high-quality achievements in all her abodes.

I met Sr. Jacinta as a teenager during my first visit to Ireland. I had heard so much about her from my Mother, her first cousin. I was so inspired by her life work. I now work with group homes and organizations for individuals with developmental disabilities. It gives me the opportunity to remember Sr. Jacinta and honor her life from New York. She will never be forgotten. Rest In Peace.
