I was so sad to hear about the death of Sr Martin, as I new her. She was head of school at Sion Hill when I attended the Montessori training for three years in the early 1980s. The years at Sion Hill were truly lifechanging. Sr Martin, or should I call her Sr Kathleen, made a strong impact on all of us students. She guided us with firmness and humour. I will always remember her!
My sincere sympathy to her family and friends.
My sincere sympathy to her family and friends.
Sincere sympathies to Judy's/Sr Kathleen's family and community on her death. Only heard news of her passing today and sorry to have missed her funeral. R.I.P.
My sincere sympathy to all who will miss Sr. Martin both in Sion Hill and Santa Sabina. I knew her in the Montessori College, in her Sion Hill days. She was a great woman, kept her eye on everything and everyone, in a kind, efficient manner. She was a great mentor and guide, especially when we were on teaching practice. Many fond memories and lessons learned from her. May she rest in peace.
Saddened to hear of the passing of Sr. Martin (as I knew her) As a young 1st year student in the Montessori College in Sion Hill in Sept. 1979, she always had a motherly and caring word, with a touch of humour and wit. Very fond memories of this wonderful lady. Condolences to her family and friends. May she have eternal rest.
In loving Memory of my Aunt Judy, (Sr. Martin, Sr. Kathleen)
Fondly I will remember :
Sitting in Ballapousta with you many times :
when the baking of porridge biscuits announced your arrival, the fresh milk would automatically go on the hob to make your creamy coffee;
and whilst drying up the dishes, your quiet advise to stand tall, walk tall.
Thank you for being my pen friend for so many years.
May you Rest in Peace.
Your niece, Frances

I met Sr. Kathleen when I began teaching in Sion Hill, now Lumen. What a power house! She knew everyone by name, keeping neat lists on the back of old Christmas cards. A formidable lady who at the same time was the
essence of kindness and understanding.
My sincere sympathy to her family and Dominican community. May she rest in peace.

Sr Kathleen has left behind a lasting legacy. This legacy will mean different things to different people. It would be impossible for you her family, to fully comprehend the many connections she made during her long life. The young people she and I once knew, whose untimely deaths left devastation in their wake….. Her nonagenarian school friend, who loudly cheered County Louth to victory last weekend….. My own mother long since gone, who faithfully sent Kilcrohane daffodils all the way from Sheep’s Head to Sion Hill for Sr. Kathleen; these interconnections greatly enrich the journey of life.
I’ll end now with a prayer, because Sr Kathleen was first and foremost, a woman of faith. This prayer is for women. Even in modern times our gender is disproportionately represented in early childhood education and in the caring professions. - May women everywhere find the strength and tenacity to carry on their work, and when the day is over and the sun has set, may their busy hands and minds find gentle rest and peace. Amen.
Sincere condolences to all who loved Sr Kathleen.

Rest in Peace Sr. Martin. I have many memories, one in particular when she asked me through mine through the window of our common room to " say hello to the floor with the brush" She had a great sense of humour, which I really enjoyed and understood. You were a great , kind educator. Join your family in heaven.
Sympathy to all the family OfSr Kathleen Julia Rip
I first meet Sr. Martin as she was known then in 1982 in Sion Hill while doing the AMI Graduate Montessori Diploma. I remember her with fond memories. She was always on top of things and was excellent in her role. It was one of the best experiences of my life and It changed my life for ever. While the Montessori AMI is sadly no more, the friend's and the opportunity I got under the direction of Sr. Martin will be forever remembered. Thank You.
When I started in the (then) Sion Hill Adult Education Centre, Sr Kathleen held sway. A force to be reckoned with, she was a person of great organisational skill. Alongside that, she possessed the qualities of a wonderful human being - kind, humourous, mischievous, with a personal touch second to none. She carried everything around in her head and on neatly hand written sheets. She ruled the roost with fairness and understanding, and brought her wisdom and humanity to everything she did. I am grateful for the chance she gave me to work in a wonderful environment.
Many Sr Kathleen rest in peace,
With sympathy and gratitude,
