Heartfelt condolences to all of Sr Majella’s family. What a dedicated, independent, hard-working, fun-loving woman she was! I have very fond memories of working with her in Okoyong, Cameroon, where she was the ideal school principal. Everyone who came into her tiny office there had her total attention, no matter how busy she was, and problems that seemed big to them were often put into perspective by a gentle humorous response.
I looked forward so much to our meetings after we were both back in Ireland.
The walk along the road from the station to the church for the funeral proved a way to remember our time together by that dusty road in Okoyong. I am sure that, despite the totally different climate and vegetation, it must often have reminded her of home.
She was a dear and valued friend and I know few people who have done so much good for so many people in such a quiet, efficient and unobtrusive way.
As they say in Cameroon, Majella, walka fine. And may you rest in eternal peace and joy.

Sr. Maji, as you were fondly called by your students (unknown to you). My principal of QRC Okoyong, Mamfe, Cameroon 🇨🇲 from 1977 to 1980. You, one of our HOLY ROSARY SISTERS, instilled in us, discipline, obedience, the love of God and neighbor. You taught us beautiful songs. You knew all girls by their voices and even in the dark, from behind. You ensured our safety and uprightedness by domitory visits after light out. Ohh, we did not need to see you. We just needed to hear that, "Sr. Maji di come" meaning Sr Maji is coming, and everything was in order. Breaking into the convent fence to steal mangoes was one of our mischievous acts. Ohh adolescence blinded our eyes. Your bringing your dog, Smokey to chase us out of the Mango trees in the convent, caught under the trees and having to work punishment are some of our treasured stories. Our family members and even friends from other schools knew of Sr. Maji. I wish we could rewind the clock. I can't recognize you without your blue veil and white dress.

Go and rest, our elegant, beautiful, and duty conscious Rev Sr. and principal. Rest assured that the children you led with trembling hands will be found among your jewels when you reach the Better Land. You are physically gone, but not emotionally from our hearts. We love you, but God loves you more. RIPP.
